I love Pikto, the staff are polite and know their stuff. They all seem to have a degree in photography and are practicing photographers or artists. The gallery also shows a diverse range of photographic work which is nice to see in this town. The openings are fun. Thumbs up from me.

We did a comparison between Blurb + Pikto. We received both books through the mail. When the Pikto book arrived it wasn't packed properly. Because of this the cover of the book was damaged and the corners of the pages were already distressed. When looking at the the 2 books next to each other we noticed that the printing on the Pikto book was blotchy. When we called the company about the damages and printing they were rude and denied that it was their fault. They refused to give us a refund and didn't even offer to reprint the book. Terrible customer service. We are stuck with a book that isn't acceptable to show and we had to pay for it. It is ridiculous! We will never recommend this company to anyone. Blurb is much better and the customer support is 100% better.

Strange. My experience was wonderful and the book was created with ease ( using their software).
My calls about due times were returned immediately, the book arrived in a perfect case and properly wrapped. I guess if you had a problem with their customer service you probably were at fault in the first place. Perhaps you were rude and your book design and files were not prepared properly according to their specs. Whenever I go there they are very friendly and accommodating, the atmosphere is relaxed and there are always interesting photographs on display.

I find it strange too. I would have thought they would have at least offer us a reprint....our files very fine as we got the identical book printed at Blurb.com....it's very disappointing....I feel that if our experience had been one that was in person, face to face, it would have been handled in a better manner.

Hmm... Did you try and contacting the Book Department directly? I found them very helpful when I had some concerns. Sometimes talking to the right department can make a difference.

I Also have had Problems with PIKTO
Find some of there staff snotty and rude especially at the counter.
They send there large metallic prints out. So you might as well get them printed outside. Numerous times I gave them a chance and they always messed up the prints
that were to there profile. They profiled them twice.
I have also seen customers in there the same time complaining about there book they got back.

PIKTO BAD PRINTS BAD EXPERIENCE July 8, 2009

have similar bad experience with this company.large photo prints
poor colour and refuse to reprint.find out afterwards that they
are only sending out print orders to an undisclosed printhosue.
they should have informed customers on their web site about their "farming out". learn my lesson and would never go back.
see complaints about problems with their photo-book orders,
may be they are "farming out" those as well !!

you certainly do not want to waste your money there!!!

Pikto sounds good on paper. My experience so far; Charged $45USD for expedited shipping that took 2 weeks to the US, wouldn't even consider crediting me for the delay. Pikto book dept. sent instructions for printing book pages, I followed them, Pikto then decided to blow it off and delayed, delayed, delayed. Very unprofessional, spotty communications, seems nobody is managing the business, inconsistent stories on delays and lacks any real customer service, takes no responsibility for errors, period. On the positive side; they seem to have nice print paper, but they told me that would be changing, (AFTER THEY PROOFED MY WORK!), I would recommend Chris Hickman at SharedInk.com. Very professional outfit with great communication and good turnaround. Sharedink didn't give me a runaround, reprinted a book and shipped replacement immediately for printing flaws.

RIPOFF REPORT POSTED JAN 16/2010 BY ONE VERY DISTRESSED CUSTOMER WHO WASTED
MONEY, SUFFERED TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND TOLD HIS STORY
LINK http://www.ripoffreport.com/book-publishers/pikto-inc/pikto-inc-pikto-books-paid-p-977e2.htm

B.S. Websites and glowing compliments by friends and associates on the internet can be very misleading and unfortunately costly to others who got scammed

We as consumers should take responsibility and spread the word to alert others not to fall
for the same traps and allow this sort of unethical company to continue to stay in business

PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD - DO NOT USE PIKTO IN THE DISTILLERY DISTRICT

Oh, how I wished I had read these before submitting my photobook nearly 3 weeks ago (still have yet to receive it, naturally). i appreciated that pikto allowed me to submit an indesign file as i prefer to design my own books, but clearly it was the wrong move as they have NO CLUE how to handle indesign files. i just pray that my books come out right.

further to that, i have had horrible customer service, no acknowledgment of their mistakes, and pissed off clients because it's taken nearly 3 weeks for their books to arrive.

i'll honestly never use pikto again. with all of the options out there, why waste your time with a company that clearly doesn't care about you?

so frustrated
