horrible.. they are too busy being hungover to pay attention, My first experience was great then it went down hill, after my third visit I had enough... I went to the owner Lisa and she was so all over the place I got scared..
I work at Grateful head... and I don't drink on week days so no hang overs from me. Ha ha ha ha ha. I'm sorry you had a bad experience Judy, I've defiantly experienced more smiles than frowns walking out the door of the salon, especially from Lysa, but sometimes there are rough mornings.
Saw it while passing by on the streetcar one day and thought I'd give it a go - best decision ever. I love this salon and won't be going anywhere but this place for a long time!
Not only the greatest name for a salon on this planet, but a great experience in every way!!! Stacy has been cutting my (curly) locks for ages...always a great cut...Lysa is as talented with the scissors, as she is beautiful...every person that works there are always happy to see me when I walk in...the femme fatales that work there are quite pleasing on the eyes...and on top of all this, great atmosphere, great chat, great decor...Oh....and LOVE THE ART!!!
Went to this place after reading the good review on here and I definitely enjoyed it and will be getting my hair cut here again and again. Staff are friendly and the place has a great, relaxing vibe. To the person above, I believe men's cuts are around $40 (from what I heard from the guy paying for his cut before me).
I had my haircut here by Lysa and I felt like she was out to lunch. She looked scattered and there was nothing but distraction for her. When trying to style my cut the next day I found it was too long on one side and to choppy on the other and I could not style it to save my life. For the price I was not happy at all which is too bad because it is so close to home.
I wish I'd read these reviews before Lysa took the scissors to my head. It's a terrible haircut - she didn't do the one thing I asked her to and it looks ridiculous. Now I have to throw bad money after good to get someone to fix it.
I went to see Shaunessy (sp?) about a month ago. Yes, I asked for a junior stylist, as I am on a budget, but really the girl's hand were shaking so bad I could see it. Nice girl, potentially good talent but probably needs to practice or get some more sleep or something. Anyhow paid $45 plus tax for the cut and my boyfriend had to fix my crooked bangs when I got home.
Guess I will keep looking for that cool, talented, affordable hair stylist in this city. Surely there must be someone out there???
I have a question does this place dye vibrant colours?
i wanna dye the under layer of my hair a hot pink
and I've asked a couple of hair salons and they all said
they don't do it
Can this place?

going to get my first cut from this place today, done by a girl named Jen. Had a horrible experience last time I was at my old place, so hopefully these guys do good work. Will update when I get back with lots of info (their website certainly doesn't have any!).
To expencive and the women at the desk was incrediably rude, i payed for an 60 dollar trim and he didnt even cut off an inch properally, he cept talking to other staff members and we had no communication when i kept telling him what i wanted
best hair cut ever!!!! thats right ever!!! i have gone to so many places and they all butcher my hair. this place, it doesn't matter who cuts your hair it will be great. I get a nice coffee when i'm there and the best conversation ever.
I hope this place stay there forever
Because another salon f’d-up my appointment, I decided on a whim to try Grateful Head.
Wrong move.
I cannot recall the stylists’ name (perhaps I’ve blocked it out of my memory), but no proper cutting technique was invovled. I felt like my wet hair was being hacked at…I had to fix my crooked bangs myself immediately afterwars, at home…and who blows-out straight hair with a round brush?! Unfriendly receptionist. I regret spending more money on the place and purchasing my shampoo there.
It’s only been a couple of weeks since having my haircut and I feel like I need to have it cut again.
after going to about 5 different salons, including GLAM (they were great at first, but my last haircut there was so bad I cried when I got home), I tried TGH. The price originally put me off of, but after I finished getting my hair cut from Jen Kim, I seriously would have paid double. What a change from my last cut at GLAM. Jen used four or five different tools, from the regular scissors, to the razor, to thinning sheers, and did exactly what I wanted. She spent a ton of time with me, and gave me an excellent all over cut with attitude. Cutting my hair isn't easy as it is incredibly thick and short, so if done incorrectly my head looks like a big ball, but Jen knew EXACTLY what to do with it, even with the very minimal direction I gave her.
It was about 75 bucks, before tip, but it was worth every cent. It's two months later now and I still love it. Can't wait to make my next appointment! Highly recommended.
I don't know why anyone would pay $45 for a haircut that can just as easily be done by a crack head in the park for free. I don't trust these people, especially not the owner. This place will not last.
I had my hair cut a few weeks ago here and I have to say it's probably the WORST haircut I've ever had in my life. To top it off, when I (nicely)explained to my hairstylist that I wasn't quite happy about it, she gave ME attitude! I was her last appointment of the day and she apparently had dinner plans afterwards because she had one of her girlfriends waiting for her in the reception area. She was more concerned about hurrying me out of her chair than taking a minute to answer a few questions I had about hair product I was possibly interested in buying.
The topper though was when she was in mid-sentence with me and she rudely answered her blackberry and walked out of the room to take the call. She never even came back!!
Will never go back to this place again.
I wish I had read these comments before my appointment.
I am not at ALL pleased with my hair cut. The stylist did NOT listen to what I wanted to do with my hair, instead claiming "she knew what would look cute" for me. She didn't ask me ANY questions about what look I was going for, instead picking on things about my hair that she thought "wasn't doing me any favors" (ie. the color.. my hair is BROWN?!)
I highly doubt I'll be making another appointment there.
Worst!!
I was a dedicated customer of Lysas for a long long time and the treatment got worse and worse. She is always pretentious and stressed and complaining about her staff, bragging about shallow things that dont matter and making empty promises. Totally unprofessional. Prices went up massively since my first cut. First cut was $40, the last time I went they charged me $80 for a trim!! wtf! That same (last) time I got a consultation from a colorist who stank so bad like booze and lack of bathing I felt like I was sitting next to one of those smelly dudes on the ttc. Dude seriously smelled like he drank all night and stumbled to work. Not exaggerating.
dont bother, they are good the fist time and then fall apart after that.
Jen Kim is amazing! Since I moved to the city I was looking for a good haircut for my thick straight hair. I wanted something little more edgy too. Jen knew exactly what would work for me. It has been the best haircut for the shape of my face. Pricey but worth it. She is funny, friendly and just plain nice. I have been going there for a few times now. I do not know about the other stylists but anytime I have been there the receptionist and other staff have been nothing but nice.
I went in today and asked how much it would be to get my bangs trimmed. And they said free, to my delight. So right then and there girl cam out and asked what I wanted. I told her, and she proceeded to butcher my bangs, super uneven, and faaaar too shot. The style is not at all what I asked for. They are awful. And now I just have to wait for them to grow out to fix them. If you don't want to take the time to cut people bangs properly for free, then charge 10$. I wouldve gladly paid for a nice friendly stylist to help me out. I will never go back.
I went here for the first time yesterday and stacy was my stylist. I told her what I wanted done (however vague I may have been)and she did it. I was amazed. A hair dresser that actually listened and sent me home with something I was happy with, for a reasonable price! I was worried when I had read some of the other reviews that this place would have been too rocker-ish for me or unprofessional. But it was completely the opposite, it was clean, the staff were all friendly, they played unoffending rock music and were highly skilled. I think this could be the beginning of a beautiful relationship... thanks!

How much would a female with short hair length cut cost approximately?
hii, i have a long hair and wanna cut them "short short" 1 inch off the chin.
does anyone know the price range here?
