Alternative Grounds
Alternative Grounds started way back in the day when there was no fair trade coffee being roasted in the city. Today's they're still winning over the neighbourhood with their veggie delight sandwich, samosas and lunch specials. The cafe is vegetarian and offers several vegan and wheat free treats.

I think you mean FAIR trade. Don't mean to be annoying, but it is a pretty big distinction.

They have the best veggie bagels. I used to go in there for lunch and their sesame seed pate is to die for! Check it out!

Their "veggie delight" is a fine creation, and the coffee is consistently very good indeed. Is the back patio still open in the summers?

It's a nice place and they're friendly, but re: their wheat-free credentials, don't take the word of the employees about what's safe and what's not. A friend was assured that something was wheat-free, ate a bite, immediately got sick, asked again, and was told by the employee, "I assumed it was wheat-free because it was vegan." Turns out flour was the third ingredient. He apologized, but she was sick for days.
