Angell Gallery Dupont

Angell Gallery is in its third iteration on Dupont St. at Campbell Avenue, having opened on West Queen West in 1996 before heading to the foot of Ossington in 2010. The current space is in the warehouse style with soaring ceilings and plenty of room for installation-based work.

Upon moving to Dupont, there was some concern/curiosity about a possible drop off in foot traffic, but gallery coordinator Rob Echlin happily notes that the hard-to-spot location has not proven a detraction to visitors. In fact, with ample parking in front of the gallery, a particular demographic of clients is now more happy to visit the space.

The current iteration is divided into three spaces: the main gallery, the project room, and something called the viewing room, which doesn't feature formal installations but allows for buyers to peruse the work of roster artists and even hang it on the wall for viewing. This is a great idea, and a place where art lovers will certainly flock to hangout.
