Thankfully it was a car and not a bicycle. There's nothing worse than nailing a car door on your bicycle. Or getting caught in the streetcar tracks while swerving to avoid a car door.

I hope your talking about the one in the white vehicle.

For all we know the person driving the red car was doing everything the should when the door of the white car flew open. I see it almost daily.

Your option in that case is sideswipe car next to you or take out the door that shouldn't have been opened in the first place.

Yeh if it was a red bike instead of a red car someone may have died.

Opening a car door in traffic is a fine and 3 points on your license.... hopefully the white car was ticketed.

165. No person shall,

(a) open the door of a motor vehicle on a highway without first taking due precautions to ensure that his or her act will not interfere with the movement of or endanger any other person or vehicle; or

(b) leave a door of a motor vehicle on a highway open on the side of the vehicle available to moving traffic for a period of time longer than is necessary to load or unload passengers. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 165.
