Flickr Forum - September 26, 2008
Welcome back to the weekly Flickr Forum, this week featuring some of the most interesting recent submissions to the blogTO Flickr pool. I was planning to feature photos matching the theme "Politics", but apparently you're all sick of the elections, or maybe like me you've let yourself get sucked into the 24-7 coverage.
Links to this week's photos after the jump...
1. Neglected Bokeh..., 2. Where Dreams Once Began..., 3. Untitled, 4. Hang On
5. Turkish Girl, 6. Leaving Toronto, 7. Toronto swans in season., 8. City E-scape
9. Edge of Night II, 10. Snow Leopard, 11. Life on the Tracks, 12. I'm stumped....

Hm, I was thinking "autumn colors" would be a good theme, but it might be a bit early for that in the city itself. And maybe I'm going to show my bias, but I'd like to see "nature in the city" too.
Of course, you could always hold over "politics" for another week!
thanks for your comments sean!!!
"autumn colours" is coming soon, but yeah, i think it's a bit early for that.
"nature in the city" is a great idea for a theme. i'm also not opposed to holding "politics" over for another week if people have anything they intend to shoot/upload.
i'm hoping that in the future the majority of themes will be decided by the community in this "you suggest/vote, i pick the most popular" kinda way. i wanted to make an announce regarding this, this week, but i haven't figured out the logistics yet.
does anyone else have suggestions/votes for next week's theme?
comments about how they'd like to see the Flickr Forum structured in the future are also welcome :)
I'm all for the "nature in the city" theme for next week. Great photos this week BTW...even thought they don't necessarily speak directly about politics...but then, isn't everything political...I donno...
another vote for "nature in the city"
Another possibility is "water" - there's some pretty nifty fountains and streams and oh I dunno, a lake.
Sorry hit enter too quickly. The other thing about "water" is that it's pretty open to interpretation as well.
@sean: good point sean :)
@Lisa: thanks for your feedback!
I'm going to let the comment thread run until the end of the day, at which point I'll announce next week's theme. Thanks for everyone's input! Keep it coming!
Hey Mike,
I always liked the themes that weren't event specific. Allows the ability to do more abstract and creative stuff.
Just my 2 cents.
@John: thanks for your input! a few people were pushing hard for more event focused themes, and maybe we went a bit too far in that direction. over the colder months when there are fewer "event", it probably makes sense to move back to more abstract and creative themes. thanks again for your input!
I prefer the less specific themes too, they're more fun to participate in and more interesting to look at. I don't see why they all need to be so "Toronto" themed either - there's only so much you can do with that without getting narrow or repetetive (and all those street festivals end up running into each other). Since most of us live here, it's going to be Toronto themed whatever the topic.
Oh yeah... nature in the city is good, water is also good, I would have suggested those myself.
The islands are really nice this time of year (yeah I know what I just wrote about speific Torontoey themes, but they are)
we could do rain and fall colours after mid October... it's a bit early for those right now
