Flickr Forum: April 11th, 2008 - Spring
The blogTO Flickr Forum is a weekly sampling of themed photographs taken by Torontonians and aims to not only feature the talent they possess, but also spur dialogue and reveal the stories behind the images.

Today's collection of Toronto photographs is made up of responses to our call for photos that fit the theme "SPRING". These images were all recently submitted to the blogTO Flickr pool.

To the photographers: we'd love to hear about your photos. A little info on where it was taken and the story behind the photo is always a great start.

To the rest of you, feel free to ask questions to the artists, submit photos to the blogTO Flickr pool for next week's consideration, or just sit back and enjoy our weekly mosaic.

Continue for links to larger versions, and to check out the next theme.

1. Shades of spring
2. crocuses
3. Waiting for the meal at Lulus on Queen Street
4. Ossington Jump
5. Spring is for sale
6. fresh start
7. Can't wait for spring.
8. Helping With Daffodils Spring Is Near
9. fade to blue

The next theme is "PORTRAIT", so let's see your best portrait photos. They can be indoor, outdoor, seductive, silly or whatever you and your muses are in the mood for. Just be creative! We're looking forward to featuring some of your images again, on April 18th.

To be considered for next week's selections:
- In Flickr, add the tag "portrait"
- Add to the blogTO Flickr pool
- If you have a photo already in the pool, and you would like it to be considered, remove the photo from the pool and re-add it. Only photos added in the past week will be considered.

If you have a theme suggestion, feel free to leave a comment.

Absolutely adore PhotoFusion's work. That fusion of the skyline with the Rainbow Bridge is fantastic.

I shot the crocuses in our front garden earlier this week after my landlady gleefully pointed them out. She quickly led into a rant against squirrels that, according to her, usually nibble off the buds before they ever get a chance to bloom. Hoping for an evening sky background, I went back for this particular shot later on and found the flowers closed up for the night. I guess I would have known they do that if it wasn't for those damn squirrels...

Thanks for posting my "Helping With Daffodils Spring Is Near" What could be more spring then Daffodils! I was on a medium format camera walk with some other people on this lovely early spring day. I brought the daffodils from these lovely young ladies working for a good cause, as you can see they were happy to have their photograph taken. I made good use of daffodils by using them as thank you cards for other people that allowed me to take thier portrait.

Many thanks for posting my picture (top right hand corner). I took it last weekend in a restaurant on Queen Street West. The street was buzzing with Torontonians seemingly desperate to soak in as much of the good weekend weather that they could. This included my friend Mo, enjoying the spring flowers left on our table.

Yesterday, in Kensington Market, somewhere between the coffee shop and the cheese store, I came across the sunglasses. All lined up, arranged by colour, asking for their photos to be taken. How could I not?

The photo "Spring is for sale" is mine! So happy to have been selected. It was shot last Sunday afternoon at the flower shops on Avenue just south of intersection Dupont. I used a Tokina 12-24 wide angle lens handheld 10 inches above the flowers to fill the wide frame with as much colourful bloom as I could.

Spring is my favourite time to get out and take pictures. Everyone seems so alive and happy to be outside again.

Hey thanks for using my photo - Ossington Jump. It was en-route to another party after a friends' birthday. It's the side of Ossington with no TTC worker, so we were able to take our time getting this shot - and most importantly, have some fun with it!

Thanks very much for featuring my shots!
I needed some greenhouse time after the months of ice, snow & slush.
"fresh start" was shot at the Centennial Park Conservatory, and "fade to blue" was shot at Allan Gardens' Greenhouse a few weeks earlier.
