Flickr Forum - January 4th, 2008 - Celebrate

Posted by MikeR / January 4, 2008

BlogTO Flickr Forum
The blogTO Flickr Forum is a weekly sampling of themed photographs taken by Torontonians and aims to not only feature the talent they possess, but also spur dialogue and reveal the stories behind the images.

Today's collection of Toronto photographs is made up of responses to our call for photos that fit the theme "CELEBRATE". These images were all recently submitted to the blogTO Flickr pool.

To the photographers: we'd love to hear about your photos. A little info on where it was taken and the story behind the photo is always a great start.

To the rest of you, feel free to ask questions to the artists, submit photos to the blogTO Flickr pool for next week's consideration, or just sit back and enjoy our weekly mosaic.

Continue for links to larger versions, and to check out the next theme.

To be considered for next week's selections:
- In Flickr, add the tag "work"
- Add to the blogTO Flickr pool
- If you have a photo already in the pool, and you would like it to be considered, remove the photo from the pool and re-add it. Only photos added in the past week will be considered.

If you have a theme suggestion, feel free to leave a comment!

Thanks for the inclusion in this weeks forum. My shot - Superfriends New Years - was shot at an intimate and smaller NYE party. The theme was supervillians and superheroes. This shot of spiderman is my friends' cousin Eric, who passed out shortly after a few drinks. It was truly entertaining!

Thanks for including my photo in the forum.

My photo "sssour" was taken in a hotel bar, and was supposed to be included in a magazine article. The magazine went down like a sinking ship and all of a sudden the photo was mine again so up on Flickr it went. I figured it was timely, since the holiday and New Year's parties were in full swing.

Fire and Ice baby...thanks for the selection. Both events were great fun to photograph. The solstice bonfire was so large I could feel the heat and the polar bear dip was flipping freezing. All I can say is that I love shooting fire! It has a life all its own..

Thanks for including my Celebrate The Season.
Always the fool, I couldn't resist this wonderful jester's hat for $9.00 in the Marine Supplies store in Provincetown recently. I've handed the role of Santa (and Santa's hat) on Christmas morning to other family members, so this hat matches my personal celebratory style perfectly.

Thanks for featuring my image (Transit Year in Review 2007).
I wanted to shoot something that summed up the year and happened to glance at the pile of plastic I had accumulated commuting back and forth from Toronto to Vaughan every day. Seemed like as good a reflection on my past year as anything else I could have shot that morning and the colour range made it somewhat shiny and cheerful-good way to start the year.
