Yoga SanctuaryYoga Sanctuary is located In a gorgeous heritage building fit for the offices of a seedy private eye. Their College Street location occupies the penthouse suite. The practice room feels more like the backdrop for a large ornate wedding. The mid-day Vinyasa class welcomed about 12 people last Wednesday. It easily could have accommodated 40. Yoga Sancturay's Danforth location has recently added hot yoga to the mix.

Tried this place out on the prana pass. The change room is virtually non-existant (no showers either), but the teacher was awesome.

This was my first place of routinely yoga practice and I have yet to find another quite like it. Many of the instructors have studied yoga abroad and they seem to have brought the aura of their travels back with them because the space does not feel like Toronto. Karen's focused Hatha is incredible, and Josh will put you through some serious Ashtanga (his routine I still use today, two years later). The calm, simplicity and grandeur will always hold a place in my heart.

I LOVE this studio. I've been in Toronto for over seven years and have tried numerous studios and I keep coming home to this studio time and time again. The teachers are all wonderful, loving, and experienced. I have never been to a class I didn't feel was just what I needed that day.
The space is beautiful, the staff is always friendly and it's so close to TTC that I can't find an excuse not to go.

I ADORE and LOVE this studio. I first came upon the Danforth studio two years ago, after exploring numerous other studios. The teachers are amazing, open, and very experienced. When I walk in I feel at home.

The College studio is off the grid! AMAZING.... This studio is really fabulous and there is no other like it in Toronto...if not Canada. With 40 foot vaulted ceilings it truly is a gem. Again, the teachers are amazing, knowlegable and so friendly and open.

Both studios are in historic buildings which give it charm. The staff behind the desk are so friendly and ready to answer any questions. Just like Cathy said - "it's so close to TTC that I can't find any excuse not to go"

I give it 4 stars......

Hi Pranapassdiva,

Thank you for your comment. Being in an historic building, The Yoga Sanctuary on College Street cannot have showers, do to the historical limitations of the building.

We do have men and womens changerooms! They may be small but they do the job! Again, living within the confines of a historical building, we try to do our best.

People love coming to The Yoga Sanctuary, because of its uniqueness of being in an historical site, having very knowledgeable, well trained and friendly Teachers and having great desk staff.

We hope you come back to enjoy some yoga at either of our locations, at Danforth, College or Richmond Hill!

Without question “The Yoga Sanctuary” is one of the best Yoga Studio I´ve been in Toronto. I have attended to several classes and every time has been a wonderful experience. Staff members do everything possible to make sure I am having a good time and receiving the best of their service. Instructors really take the time to explain and walk students through all poses. They have a lot of experience and you can tell from the first moment that they are highly qualified.
The studio itself is very spacious and gorgeous. The location is very convenient. In short, I would definitely recommend this studio.

I've been practicing yoga for about six years at several studios in Toronto and Vancouver and I've never been to a studio like The Yoga Sanctuary. I really can't say enough great things about this place.

To start, the staff and teachers are all so friendly and down to earth. This is a truly unpretentious and welcoming environment. As mentioned in a few earlier posts, the space is really something to experience. The historic building provides both architectural beauty and a wonderful energy. It's a spacious room without feeling cold, which means you spend more time taking in each pose and less time worrying about stretching into your neighbour.

Monday night's Hatha Restoration with Josh is a favourite.
