TKMT AcademyThe Toronto Kickboxing and Muay Thai Academy prides itself on its friendliness. As its mandate states, "The traditional 'meathead' and 'thug' attitudes that characterize other gyms are not welcomed here." Take that, meatheads. Still, its classes are quite rigorous, offering various levels of kickboxing, competitive fighting, and Muay Boran.

Excellent place. Should be number #1. This is the most comfortable place and atmosphere I have ever been too.

Sadly I am 6'6" tall and hit the ceilings when I do the jump rope(almost blew a sprinkler head once >.< so I stopped going to Uptown.

The price is great and you get what you pay for, One serious workout. I am out of shape and sporting a few extra pounds on the tummy. I was outta breath for sure. But never felt out of place. Everyone is really great here, no attitudes, noone talking crap or laughing at you. Professional people and fun to be around for sure.

I stumbled across TKMT when I searched for a regular boxing club in May. Their "no meathead" philosophy was exactly what I was looking for and they practise what they preach. A no-frills club with friendly instructors and everyone is there just to learn and get a good workout. There is the odd person who REALLY gets into it, but that's really the exception. Prices are quite reasonable and absolutely NO sales pressure. You determine how much you want to use the facilities and you pay accordingly with a variety of options.

Highly recommended.

I've been training at TKMT (uptown) for about 4-5 months now and so far I love it! Excellent instructors, decent sized classes (most of the time.. weekends can get a little crowded.) The best part about this gym is their no-nonsense approach to membership sales. Prices are listed on the website, no trickery or pressure involved at all which is rare these days when it comes to martial arts gyms. Love the class schedules as well, always at least 2-3 class times available per day for each level so there are always options. The classes are killer workouts that will seriously make you sweat. Great friendly environment, no meatheads and tons of women most of the time. Overall, I love tkmt and I highly recommend it!
