Wanna be in the Total Recall remake?

Posted by Derek Flack / August 10, 2011

Total Recall TorontoHere's a great chance to meet the dreamy Jessica Biel and studly Colin Farrell — or, alternately, to stand on your feet for 14 hours for minimum wage. Either way, for those who've always dreamed of being in a Hollywood blockbuster (by budget if nothing else), this extras casting call for the Toronto-filmed remake of Total Recall should work quite nicely. And, even better, you'll get to see what part of Toronto the crew has selected to represent the "seedy/dark part of the world." If interested, bust out your best hungover/underslept photo and send it in!

Seriously, here's the link.

Give the squeegie guys jobs on this and you won't even have to do wardrobe or makeup.

There's Mammoliti's solution right there. Put the panhandlers to work.

Totally agree with the comments above - someone should go around and take photo's of any street kid/person that wouldn't mind putting in a days work and send it to the producers. Or to make it easy (and I don't mean this in a insulting way) go around with a van on the day of the shoot and just pick the people up.

The issue will be that everything will have to be all "official" so they will need names and addresses so they can make cheques etc. This is part of the problem, People that fall on hard times and do want to work get trapped but what is required to have a job which most of the time is more than just the desire to put in a day of hard work.

I heard she was disappointed about that.

Great idea, but i dont imagine the majority of the street/squeegee guys and gals would enjoy a 12-14 hour work day of being bossed around. Its easy for us to think they would, but i think your forgetting why they have chosen to be who they are.

you need a SIN number ... that could be a problem for some of those street/squeegee guys and gals. :(

It is all so simple, give a street kid a job for a day or two working 14 hours day at $11 an hour. Then they will pull themselves out of the bottom of the 20% unemployed youth heap. Pass all those university educated kids and secure a full time job making a living wage, maybe even get benefits and a pension

I hear Rob Ford will be playing the exploding lady head!
He's a dead ringer for the part.

Based on that rate, they are looking for non-unionized actors. A unionized actor would likely get about twice as much.

I remember watching a scene being shot around the corner from where I lived at College and Bathurst of a movie called One Tough Cop, starring Chris Penn, ftw! Anyway, it was kinda fascinating and I was shocked when I realized I'd been there for 4 hours. It's just not something you see everyday.

Also, I met Colin Farrell at the movie theatre in St.Catharines when he stopped in to watch Fast Five on his way to film Total Recall in Toronto. Also fascinating. 3 of us knew he was there and only about 4 other people actually noticed him as he was leaving. 100 people were watching a movie with a big movie star and had no idea. He was really nice but in a hurry because he knew if word got out, he'd be there forever signing autographs. He hopped into his rented SUV and off he went.

Aren't you not supposed to be able to talk to the stars of the movie(s) that you're working on? That was the rule when I was an extra way back when.

Again, the problem of not having a SIN or any other form of recognizable ID would make that hard.

I think taking anyone of the street to work on a film set is a bad idea. As noble an idea as it may be to give any of these people paid work, you'd be giving these people an opportunity to steal (props, craft, confidential documents, etc) and also, they'll be kept in close proximity to MANY other people, for many hours, in possibly very warm conditions, leaving to question their personal hygiene and how it may affect others. Then of course there is the matter of conduct on set... Can't conform to society, why cooperate on set for a movie you'll probably NEVER pay to see?

Anyway, looking forward to seeing this remake, and sad that I won't be available those days for a chance to woo Jessica.

They dont take a commission however
but normally, even if you ARE non-union
Someone with 'special skills' or a 'special look' gets paid $23 an hour NOT $11 an hour

I did not hear anything back, i emailed twice and it has been 4 days. They should have responded by now.

I have worked on many sets, usually always receive a relatively speedy response.

Has anyone been booked for the 22 24 and 25th of august?
