Corey Haim (1971-2010)

Posted by Jerrold Litwinenko / March 10, 2010

corey haim deathCorey Haim, the 80's film heartthrob who was born and raised here in Toronto, has died at the age of 38 in Los Angeles. The New York Times reports that his death is under police investigation, and that a full obituary will follow.

Haim, who'd battled drug addition, may have succumbed to an overdose, if celeb rag TMZ is correct in their reports.

I have fond memories of The Lost Boys (1987) and License to Drive (1988), and also remember him appearing on the Edison Twins. Rest in peace.

This means he'll just need less makeup for Lost Boys 3.

Unfortunate.
But I truly wish these celebrity types would do something more with their lives, their talents, their money...

It's pretty inappropriate given that the guy JUST died, and I know it shouldn't have, but your comment actually made me laugh out loud. Now I feel sad and a little guilty.

Corey Feldman is correct I think they mean a full autopsy will follow.

This is a tragedy. Most of the reports in the Toronto Sun are correct. He was a fixture in the Younge and Eglinton area for years. During my time living in that area I had run into Corey a few times at the local pubs. He was always nice, and always willing to share his thoughts on his past, present, and future. Yes he was an addict. It doesn't mean that he was hopeless. Everyone can have the will in them to quit. It's when they lose that will and give up on their life, then it becomes sad. Corey you were a trooper and always motivated me in our talks. because of you and a few others I strive to achieve my goals on a daily basis. You won't be forgotten, Toronto loved you, we all did. Cheers ol buddy, and god bless.

Seeing as how he wasn't an evil human being, I fail to see the need for crudde, snide comments regarding his passing.

Let's hope the memories people have of those who have commented are more positive.

I am amazed at the ignorance in most of the comments. Regardless of his choices or evils in his life, He was somebodies son and friend. He deserves every respect for the entertainment he provided for us all. I am sure he will be greatly missed by many, but none as much as his mom and family and friends. Show some respect, we all have skeletons in our closets, his were just more advertised through fame..May he rest in peace, and may his mother find the courage to push on. I am sorry for your loss mrs. Haim, your son will be missed!!

Cory Feldman, I am extremely sorry for your loss. There is no greater tragedy than being left behind to mourn a loved one. My sympathies to you and his family.
