For anyone bemoaning a lack of Canadian content at the movie theatres, here's your chance to support a small Canadian indie-pic. Lucid, featured at last year's TIFF and reviewed by blogTO last fall, will be playing at the Cumberland beginning this Friday.

I met the director, Sean Garrity, just a few days ago. An amicable bloke, he's understandably frustrated over the limited release of his new film (it's only in three theatres across Canada: one each in Toronto, Winnipeg, and Vancouver) but it's hard to garner nation-wide exposure when American marketing dollars are five to ten times the entire budget of most Canadian films. So, this is just a gentle nudge for all those who wish to support home-grown talent. Give Lucid a look this weekend at the Cumberland (159 Cumberland St. in Yorkville).

This is a great little black comedy thriller, with a noirish feel to it. I caught LUCID at the Toronto International Film Festival and it was easily one of the best of the 20 or so films I saw at TIFF last year. Lucid is a dark, funny and twisted indie flick. Very stylishly shot despite its low budget. And of course some fabulous acting to boot, especially from the off-kilter patients of the lead doctor. See it now, or as is often the case with little gems like this, you won't see it at all!
