popcorn.JPGWell, well, well, movie theatres... been a little lonely for the last few years since you've hiked the price of admission to an incomprehensible sum? I don't know about you, but I've opted to rent DVDs over going to the movie theatre more than a handful of times this year alone.

Luckily, the theatres have felt our cold shoulder, and Famous Players has announced that their admission price is gonna drop down to $9.95, from $13.95 starting on Friday! You can read more about it here. My #1 "non-cinema" theatre of choice is the Paramount on 259 Richmond Street West. It's huge, plush, candy-coloured and perfect for mindless Sundays with a bunch of friends. And now with the extra 4 bucks, I can finally afford that scrumptious kool-aid slushy to go with my popcorn!

Bah! $9.95 + tax still = TOO MUCH
I'll save my money and go to the Bloor or any of the festival cinemas thank you. And I won't have to put up with 15 minutes of commercials, crap music over the speakers, dizzying lighting and projections in the lobby or swarms of moronic teenagers.

And it's still social!

Hey, I hear you! The price is still insane... not even mentioning parking BUT... I do like to dabble in the cushiony Paramount once in a while, I can admit it. Another thing I like about the price drop is, it means movie theatres actually felt the people turning away from their ridiculous price hikes, and they had to move backwards to regain an audience... maybe we could get them to move back a few MORE bucks by 2007? Ok , that's just delusion talking.

I'll always be a sucker for 1/2price Tuesdays. :)
