Worth trying, at Bathurst and College there's a new place called Shawarma Bites. They make their own bread (saj instead of pita), their falafel is tasty and they always fry it fresh. ]]>

We just came from Orly's at 660 Sheppard Ave W (near Bathurst) and decided that their falafels BLOW AWAY Tov-Li and King David (our usual haunts) Super fresh veggies, and the falafels were steaming as we bit into the sandwich. Also, the sandwich makers have personality here. At $4.50 (after tax) per sandwich, it's half the price of Dr Laffa...whose product is also exceptional. But for a tradional falafel, Orly Restaurant & Grill is BEST. ]]>

I just stopped at College Falafel for the first time ever on my way home this evening. Firstly, $1 is far too much for a falafel ball. As somebody who lived in the middle east for a significant portion of his life, even $0.50 per ball seems a bit much most of the time.

The falafels are tasty, but I find the tahini sauce to be bland and watery.

My favourite quick place for both falafel and shawarma in this city is Eat A Pita just East of Yonge on Cumberland. Though I'm sure there is far better out there.]]>

Recommendations: Yakamoz at Bathurst and Wilson, right nest to the exit from the 401. Incredible shawarma and falafel. What sets them apart is the use of the Lafa instead of the pita.... much bigger and better IMHO. Also delicious is Paramount at Yonge and Clark - No better pita in the city, although their falafel balls are a little bland. The best? Me Va Me in Thornhill. Authentic, very Israeli, amazing food all around. I see alot of Sababa recommendations here - I've found that their quality has gone down over the past 4-5 years. Their food used to be much better.

Nona, at Yonge and Lawtrence (8 blocks north...) is by far the best in Toronto. Just visited Toronto again this summer, to find out that Nona's falafel ("the veggie sliders") is really the best in Canada. The very friendly owners (father and son) make their falafel with mix of chick-peas and fava (FUL) beans, cinnamon, cardamon, sesame, celery and many more... Add to that their Tahini sauce and their home-made mild garlic-banana-pepper sauce and you';re in 7th heaven.
Pity that I have to go back to Holland, my country, and back to the not-half-as-good falafel offered there...]]>

Best falafel place in Toronto? Sultan, at Main St. & Danforth - hands down.

FRESH & DELICIOUS.

I no longer live in Toronto, but upon visiting I had to go get a falafel in my old neighbourhood. I went in for one, ate it, and had to grab another one to go.

You haven't had a falafel until you go there. Seriously.]]>

Sababa is great and cheap. Love the fresh pitas. And i've never had a hot sauce on a pita that was half as good as theirs. Although, lately the quality of the patties has been variable... i think they've had some turnover in the kitchen.]]>

There's a nice little place near where I live, on Bloor west of Dufferin, called Babylon Gardens that I quite like. Good value too... on Mondays their falafel sandwiches are 2 for $2.99. An "Ali Baba" just opened at Lansdowne. More selection but not as tasty. I have not yet tried "Shawar-mama" next to the House of Lancaster.]]>

At the very least, I think Ghazale wins for "best smelling"..
No matter how full I am, whenever I walk past Ghazale my mouth starts watering and an overwhelming desire for shawarma/falafel goodness ensues.]]>

Mystic Muffin indeed. Although they can't compete with the hot sauce at Sara's.

@ Sally: Pita Break is the absolutely worst you could do for a falafel. The one and only time I went there they took out their falafel balls from a freezer!]]>
