I am happy that Toronto has another reason to be proud. I love all the festivals and events that happen in the city, however I find some of them over rated. Last year Luminato was one of those over publicized yet slightly disappointing happenings. I really hope that this year they will have more to offer to the public free of charge - especially with the sponsorship of some majour financial institutions, corporations and the government. It should be about free art and not creative advertising and self-promotion.

As well, I understand that light instillations are really cool looking and everything - but in the age of energy conservation I can really do without this wasteful form of self-expression.

I'd like to see more environmentally friendly art festivals free of charge to the public. Its totally doable!

Editor's note: I've stripped LuminaTO of its capital letters, and it only cried for a short time. Are we all good now? :)

I can't speak for any of the other writers, but my posts aren't sourced from press releases. Seeing that you seem to be familiar with them though and that you're so outspoken about this, I'd encourage you to contribute to blogTO.

Personally, I'll breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the mis-capitalization of a poorly branded festival name is what makes my post sloppy, not proofread, uncorrected, and inaccurate.

nowhere on Luminato's site or presumably in the press releases you write your articles from is it spelled LuminaTO. See, this is one of the things that bugs me most about BlogTO articles: they're sloppy, not proofread, uncorrected, and often inaccurate. I know it's a blog, but jeesh.

Hm you're right, if you go to Luminato.com they have it as Luminato in the page title.

That being said, Jerrold is totally right, and the branding F-up confused me last year and again this year, so I'm going to stay consistent and will continue to capitalize TO. :)

Blame it on the dual fonts they use in the word and for branding the festival. It clearly emphasizes the TO a la LuminaTO :)
