I'm sorry I had to miss this but I just couldn't fit it in around other things. If you enjoyed this keep your eyes peeled for the Slow Food Picnic at the Brickworks in the fall.]]>

I had a wonderful time at Brewers Plate. The food, drink, and company were all lovely. I'm looking forward to next year's event and can only hope it's as good as the inaugural event.]]>

The price tag affects who goes to the event, sure, but not the atmosphere inside, necessarily. Plus, sometimes with local or organic food proponents, a "holier than thou" feeling emerges (regardless of money). That never happened Friday night. Everything felt natural, which, I think, was the big message of the night: it's not so hard to eat local, even in April.]]>

"with none of the pretension that sometimes accompanies local food events"

Do the $125 tickets not count towards a little bit of pretension?]]>
