I've recommended this place to many people in the past, and I've enjoyed it several times myself.

But no more. Today was the last time I will ever eat at this restaurant.

I ordered a burger. It came raw in the middle. I was advised that this is how burgers are generally done there -- medium to rare. I asked to have one that was well cooked. The cook opted to stick the original burger, which had already cooled to room temperature (with the cheese and bacon on it), back on the grill. When I asked about it from the cook who also happened to be serving food, I was (a) given attitude, and (b) told that burgers are generally done rare to medium and that if I had wanted it well done, I should have requested it that way when I ordered it. I pointed out to him that this was not actually the way Toronto Public Health saw things with respect to burgers -- that they were supposed to be well done. He asked if I wanted a new burger and I said yes please.

Watched him make it (it's an open kitchen). Did I mention a distinct lack of hand washing after handling the raw meat?

Burger number 2 arrived about 10 minutes later. Charred on the outside. Even more raw on the inside if that was possible. Less cheese and bacon soggy (I had ordered it crispy originally). I picked at what I could find that was barely edible and left it in pieces around my plate.

Now, the owners of this restaurant have been great in the past and it's the first time I've experienced this kind of callous and frankly unsanitary treatment there.

Unfortunately, once is enough for me. I will not be going back.]]>

I must say, I love having brunch at Yasi's. I'm a big fan of the Auntie Rosa, as well as the salt and pepper shakers that look like a Hawaiian shirt with matching shorts. ]]>

One other menu highlight I should mention is the Turkish Breakfast for Two ($19.99). While I didn't get a chance to try it out this time, I'm looking forward to stopping in again for just this dish. Turkish style bread served with a choice of six of the following: feta cheese, labne, olives, marinated tomatoes, avocado spread, Turkish sausage, tempeh sausage, and Turkish jams.]]>

I love this place and have to second the grilled cheese... But deary me I could NEVER eat a cooked through poached egg... Luckily I've never had such issues before, cause that's one thing I ALWAYS send back. I do try to remember to order them soft, regardless.]]>

The food is great, and the people running the place are really friendly. It's a shame the place is so tiny. Still, it's the best brunch place in Blansdowne. ]]>
