This is Rosemary's Baby for the Torture Porn generation.

The comparisons to Haute Tension are accurate. It's a full-on Slasher; lean and mean. Aside from the explanation of the killer's motivation, there's not a hint of arty pretension in this cruel and straight-forward gore-o-ganza. 

The bloodletting is abundant and relentless; the constant, moody soundtrack never let's up, building its tension and dread right through to the very end. And for at least a couple of reasons, it's a better film than Haute Tension. One of those reasons is that the ending is not stupid. 

Oh, it's far from brilliant, but the movie ends with a ten second black screen before the credits crawl up, so at least it has the courtesy of letting us have a moment to wipe the vomit off the side of our mouths.   ]]>
