Canadians hate the thought of Americans actually knowing a thing or two about anything. We are so obsessed with our "greatness" that we're afraid to seek anyone's opinion beyond our borders for fear they may actually be right.

Those of us who've traveled south of the border recently will have seen first hand the rejuvenation in American cities. They're light years ahead of us in terms of building communities that work.

Toronto is lucky anyone still cares whether we thrive or not. It's time for us pompous Canadians to accept help from anyone who can lend a credible voice. Our future success depends on it.

Ah yes, because what we need is an American thinker telling us just how much we are screwing up our "potential" in this city. I can't wait to see the commercials for this "Prosperity Institute." Sadly though, these students may be the only moneymakers coming from post-secondary education at the university level. They'll be spreading the word at high-paying corporate events while high schools continue to heard the smart kids into universities that will leave them broke and jobless with a piece of paper to commemorate keg stands and promiscuous sex. ]]>
