onigiri- is a japanese light meal, always consisting of rice; and often having a filling (such as fish or preserved plum) in the centre. Sometimes it just a ball of rice with furikake all over it. o-nigiri brings to mind the idea of smushing rice into a ball... anyway, it can also be wrapped in nori seaweed. I find them fantastic, especially the ume (preserved plum) variety. I am going to make a trip to sanko sometime (from Kingston) to get me some o-nigiri!]]>

Oni-giri is basically a triangle of sticky rice, sometimes wrapped in seaweed, with salmon or pickle or some other kind of fish or meat or vegetable inside.

A truly wonderful snack - kept me fed most mornings on the way to work when I was in Japan. Some of the more adventurous ones have ikura - fish eggs. Those were delicious as well. ]]>

it's sort of a rice ball with a small topping of whatever flavour. Slightly difficult to explain. You could go in and check it out. The people there are really helpful and kind.]]>
