Xin Jiang, in a small strip mall on Steeles & Pharmacy, is an excellent spot for tasty dishes from Western China. That's where we'll be on Sunday.]]>

e-Pan on Spadina north of Dundas is quite good. My Chinese mother took me there before. She has many places to go up in the burbs but I can't recall at the moment. Sam Woo has a nice restaurant without a lot of MSG.]]>

Wow, some very unique tips here, whether I want to celebrate à la Malaysian/Singaporean or try hosting the dinner at home.

Hmmm, not sure which to do now... yusheng salad is DELIGHTFUL, but I'd also like to try my own hand at cooking the meal with some convenience.

Thanks, this has been helpful.]]>

CNY is celebrated extremely widely in countries outside of China too. Malaysia is home to 6.9 million Chinese people, and like I said, this restaurant is from Singapore-Malaysia-Indonesian Chinese, 20 million in numbers. It is an integral component of the overseas Chinese culture and a fascinating contrast to the more traditional mainland/HK CNY.

And yes, it is indeed my personal recommendations, as written in the article :) It's not meant to be 100% objective. ]]>

this is is kinda BS.

you listed a Malaysian restaurant AND a grocery store, but you missed clear Chinese food winners like Taste of China (Downtown) to O-Mei (in the norther burbs).

instead of disguising it as places to feast on CNY, why not just call it your favourite place to eat. EVER.

also, as for northern chinese food, the best you can come up with is Asian Legend.

this is one time BlogTO can't hide behind the reader's choice excuse. ]]>
