Went here last night hoping to have some good food and a few local beers, but unfortunately they were out of all THREE beers we had asked for. We were asked if we wanted a "normal" menu or a "snack" menu although i'm not sure there is much of a difference seeing as there's no more than 10 items on either. Very disappointing. I would consider giving this place another try some time just for the benefit of the doubt, but last night we ended up taking our business elsewhere.

so i finally gave it a try. I was all ready for a cool casual joint on the junction but what i got was a trying to be cool and trendy and really not understanding the restaurant business. The prices are ridiculously high for entree. They are comparable with price of a mid to high end restaurant on King west strip while they don't have a menu, only 1 wine on the wine list and no table cloth. which would all be fine if this is the image you are trying to portray but you need to charge accordingly. if i am paying mid to high 20 for a meal i do expect someone to pass me a menu so i don't have to stand by a board at the entry (not even located in the dining room) and get a bit more comfy chair and perhaps have a choice between a few different wine. what are you guys thinking. You guys need to get the restaurant business or you will be out of the game so quick you wouldn't know what hit you. Price your menu accordingly with the concept.

I am actually here to read the reviews, not the rate the establishment, but it seems to be that the fact that there are not any servers may contribute to the slow (if non existent food service). In a sense, servers are there to make sure the food gets to the customer. They have a vested interest (tips). Either that or you need more people working in the kitchen or a better way of organizing the orders. If you can't get something as simple as people getting their food/drinks in a timely fashion, something has to change or you wont be in business for long. That is something that is making me think twice about going.

Have to agree with a number of the posts here - 3030 is a decent venue to check out, but the system for getting a drink is a bit ridiculous. Personally, I like it when there are servers "hovering" ..that means I'm not lining up to get a drink, and then find out I have to go line up at another bar to get a different type of drink. Might be nice for the bartender to put the lime and straw in my cocktail, instead of me having to do it myself - especially the second time, after they watched me garnish my first drink.

At least you only have to go to one bar to order food! On that note, the food offerings were okay once we got them (they forgot our order, and I had to re-order after waiting for about 45 minutes and realizing what was going on).

I understand that weekend brunch is a busy time for restaurants and usually comes with longer waits for tables, food, etc. but it should not take 2 hours - which is what happened when my friends and I went to 3030.

In retrospect, we probably should have left but we were curious to try the food and enjoyed the decor/atmosphere so we waited it out. The restaurant was apparently backed up/busy from the Junction Flea Market happening down the street but we weren't told this until after we had waited over an hour for a table and our food. I work in the service industry so I get it when places are short-staffed or busy but as a courtesy, explain this to your customers before they've been seated or ordered so they understand. From our perspective, the place wasn't busy and we had to wait far longer than we should have for our meals. Our sides also didn't come until after we had finished our mains, which was the point at which we were told that the kitchen was backed up.

I will say though that the staff was friendly and seemed apologetic. The food was okay, but not worth the wait.

Poor brunch service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Waited over 30 minutes for food to arrive and it never did. We got up and left. We weren't the only ones waiting a ridiculous amount of time for our food. Another group apparently waited 45 minutes before ditching this place. They were quite vocal about it. The only explanation we got was, "it's only been 30 minutes." Seriously?? 30 minutes is pushing it in the restaurant world if you guys expect your customers to wait that long for their food. Good luck surviving in this cut throat industry. We won't be back.

I'm sorry that your brunch experience was not what it should have been. My friend had the same criticism about the Eggs Benny, and I'll pass this on to the kitchen.

Please get in touch with me through our website, and I'd like to change your mind about our brunch if you'd like to give us a second chance.

Mooloo - I'm sorry that your experience was not a positive one.

1. Unlike other establishments, we don't do table service. We felt that it helps with the relaxed atmosphere during the evenings not to have someone hovering over you, and people feel more comfortable just 'hanging out'.

2. There is no mechanism for us to remove negative comments, and I can assure you that none of our friends have left the above messages (at least not with our knowledge). Even if we did have the power to remove negative reviews, we still would leave them up here as we need to hear negative feedback.

3. I'm not sure what you ate, but based on the reviews of our food so far, particularly from foodies and folks who seem to really know their food, I'm not sure if the term 'crap' would be a good catch-all to describe our menu. Perhaps if you were more specific about what you didn't like about the food, we could take that feedback and improve. However we make everything from scratch using mostly high-quality, locally sourced ingredients.

4. Again, I'm sorry that you had a poor experience. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me directly through our website, or come back and talk to me and hopefully I can change your mind about our place.

Had brunch with my husband today. Very much like the venue and the art on the walls. The board games available are a nice touch. I found the staff nice and we felt well taken care of.
We ordered the Duck Confit Sandwich and the Eggs Benedict. My husband cound the sandwich had too much mayo. My eggs benedict were not my favorite as the ham was very gristly and was not able eat it.

I think that 3030 has alot of potential, the food needs a little tweaking and I may not return for brunch but would like to try in the evening.

I wish 3030 the best of luck!

Thank you for all the (mostly positive) comments about our place, as well as some of the constructive critiques.

We've only been open for a couple of weeks, and while we are working really hard, we know we have a lot to improve on. This isn't an excuse, but 'Dee' and 'CB', I'm sorry that your experience wasn't what we'd like it to be.

One of the most difficult things, with running a place like this is that it's difficult to be everything to everyone, as much as we'd like to, what one person really likes is what another person hates. Still, we can definitely improve some of our processess for serving folks, as well as communicating how our place works, in that we don't really do table service, and you have to order at the bar. Our concept for both our food, as well as the lack of table service, was that it might be a refreshing change, to enjoy your time with friends in peace. Also, we are primarily a performance venue, so it seemed counterintuitive to have additional staff walking over people enjoying a show to take orders and bring them their food. If you have any suggestions on how we can do this better, we're all ears.

With regards to the acoustic issues of the room, it's a bit more complicated. I try to keep everything in the room below 105 db's, which is the loudest noise should go, before damage is done to the human ear. In the case of the band on Saturday evening (who were great by the way), there are a couple issues. First of all, the band features two percussionists, along with a three part horn section. These instruments generate a ton of volume acoustically on their own, and mixing a show like this becomes an exercise in bringing up all the other instruments to the same volume level as these five items. As a result, you start pushing the spectrum for what you can accomplish without turning the main audio system up louder than I feel comfortable doing. It was loud on Sa

While I understand your complaint 'CB', I received a number of compliments from patrons that evening, as to how good the sound in the room was, and the band seemed to feel the same way. I can understand if you just wanted to 'hang out', that you would feel differently about this, but I can assure you that for live, high-energy funk and soul, the volume was actually quite reasonable.

With regards to the room acoustics, the largest wall is exposed brick, and the largest surface is a concrete floor. I personally invested a fair amount of time and resources into removing as much of the 'noise' in the room, and the difference between what it was prior to receiving acoustic treatment and now is very significant. Again, we can't be a cosy, intimate bar, much like the very excellent and recently re-opened 'Hole in the Wall' down the street, but we do hope we can be a comfortable, welcoming and honest venue, that serves as an artistic hub for the Junction neighbourhood.

Finally, thanks to everyone who wrote the really nice compliments in the comments below. We really appreciate them, but we aren't letting them go to our head, Everyday we try to get better and better, and we hope that by listening to our customers, and to our business that we can eventually become a really great place, and a great place to see and enjoy live music, theatre as well as eating some tasty food, enjoying a craft beer and playing a board game.

Thanks for reading, and for coming in.

Also, the man who intially approached us seemed completely overwhelmed and stressed out, which I understand during opening week. The second guy who came up to us, was so kind and really gave us insight into what the space plans to become with the help of the community.I think having menu signage visible in the back would be helpful as well.

I love the space, and adore that it is so close to my home. The bars/service need work. I too lined up for a drink, only to be told, I could get my pint there, but my partners gin and tonic could only be served from the other bar. Both bars should be well stocked, with visible signage of which taps are available at each bar. I have no problem not having table service, but the bartenders will hopefully be quicker after getting used to the system (I hope). Food was fabulous, board games are awesome. I really liked the spacious feel, and having tables not too close to one another. There are kinks and I think they will be worked out eventually. I will be back!

NOT a classy place in response to the other post, no clue where that descriptor came from?? Just went for the first time, felt like I was at a concert venue. On a Wed night I don't expect to wait in line for a drink, no servers or table service? The space is huge (no clue how they'll heat in with the concrete floors later in the yr?) and felt quite odd sitting at a table in the seeming middle of nowhere as there were only 2 of us. Waited 10 min at the front bar only to be told that the single malt is only sold at the back bar; another 10 min wait. Liked the decor but felt unfinished in that there is so much open space which leads to echo and weirdly isolated feeling unless you're with a group of 8 or more. I liked the art, the colour scheme, the tables. Tips; stock both bars, glasses for straight drinks, offer straws, have people come to your table to take drink orders. I think it would be quite perfect if cut in 1/2 really. I'll likely go back for round two though to see how it's going as I live in the area.

Classy...it seems like I was at the Sound Academy pre concert. Nice idea but it's huge & tables are spaced so far apart, feel oddly isolated. Waited 10 min at one bar only to be told I had to wait another 10 min at the back bar because that's the oy one that carries single malt....odd. Table decor & games are cool though, friendly service. To me it seemed much like a 1/2 empty beer tent. Nice try but not sure if I'll be back?
