If you want a great shop try Ontario Fashion Textiles on St. Clair West. I stumbled across this shoppe and found the help friendly and knowledgeable. I love the fabric selection, quite original not to mention some vintage fabrics. You may have to browse a bit but the clerk was cool with it. I also found out on the way out that they make custom drapes. Too bad I didn't know of this place before I got my bedroom windows done. Will look for a reason to go back. Nice yarns and needle craft stuff, priced well, too. ]]>

This is THE place for anyone who is looking for fine fabrics. In all my years of sewing (50+) I have never seen anything like the amount of exquisite fabric that is to be found here.

My husband and I both sew and we have been searching for a long time for quality cottons for shirts and blouses. We had given up trying to find it locally and were searching on the internet when by chance we found Sultan’s right here in Toronto! We will never need to look anywhere else. There is so much choice you know you’ve found the ultimate source for fine fabric. http://www.sultansfinefabrics.com

There’s an article in make something by Karyn from the Workroom in Parkdale that goes into much more detail about some of the other incredible fabrics that are available. http://www.makesomething.ca/?s=sultans

And the good news is that if you’re looking for the quality fabric and don’t live near Toronto they have a great website to order from : )

Sultan Moosa is the owner who passionately showed us his exquisite materials. We went in to buy two lengths of fabric and came out with six. An incredible experience! Can’t wait to go back : )]]>

Totally agree! There are some great stores on Queen West, especially Downtown Fabrics.

And i can't agree with Affordable Textiles being on the list. They may have decent prices, but it's severely disorganized and takes all the joy out of fabric shopping. ]]>

Tonic Living! Local, amazing customer service and awesome selection. I'm a sewer with a home business and I buy most of my fabric from them, or The Workroom.

Customer service at King Textiles can be hit or miss, but they do have a large selection. Affordable Textiles is good too.]]>

When BlogTO published an open call to write this review, I thought about applying, but it seems too much work for essentially no pay at that time

Now I wished I had applied, there are so many great stores on Queen street that were let off the list. For one, I like to see Downtown Fabric being mentioned; the owner is such a nice guy, he would give fashion students free fabric scraps from his basement when the other stores would still charge something ridiculous for their scraps.]]>

Does anyone know of any good CANADIAN online fabric stores?

There's a really good one for children's/novelty/quilter's fabrics called bugfabrics.com, but it's in the States. They ship here, but it's a little pricier that way. Still worth a look!
