I figured the shoe would drop with the Paradise, despite its funky charm. Main memory: seeing Nashville there about five years ago and discovering the only thing holding the armrest on my seat was either gum or stik-tak.]]>

This is too bad. Apart from the Royal, the Paradise was usually the only one with anything worth seeing. Last week I saw a Bogart double-bill there. As I type this I think the Fox is showing 'Failure to Launch.']]>

I've only been to the Paradise once, and didn't particularly enjoy my experience, but it's still a shame that Toronto's going to have only three rep. theatres now.
At least with the Festivals running at full strength (plus Bloor) there was a good chance of a decent show on any given night.
Perhaps now, with a less screens, more concentrated programming will ensue, instead of being bombarded by the same Hollywood crap we already aren't seeing at the multi-plexes.]]>
