I completly agree with BlogTo. but u are talking about him being 6-11 on an undersized team.
how can u mention shaqs name the biggest guy in the league who prolly has a less skill than my left nut. but he is big and i respect him because of that.
how the hell can u pick on him.

Are you kidding? Charlie Villanueva is the truth. You want to talk about consistency, well, just look at the month of February, ever since he was added to the starting lineup (no longer a 6-man) and moved to his true position (6'11" small forward)... he has been averaging 16pts & 6 rbs a game. Now, that's impressive for a rookie or just for anybody period!

Charlie V. has earned the right to speak his mind! Keep doing your thing kido!]]>

I agree with all the comments here pointing out how unnecessary the original posting is. There were players taken higher than CV (say, #2?) that are not playing in the Rookie-Soph game. Furthermore, CV is currently ranked as the 3rd-best rookie in the league (after Chris Paul who will be ROY and Bogut, the first overall pick). The record of his team should not color the strength of his performance relative to the expectations implied by the criticism he received when selected, and having watched the draft live, the barbs thrown his way were virulent and included suggestions that he was lazy, not as skilled as other players still available, and unable to play alongside our franchise player in Bosh...he HAS proven each of these points to basically be inaccurate. And oh yeah, as of the last couple of weeks, CV is not the 6th-man but a starter, and has done extremely well while learning a new position. Let a young kid speak his mind when ASKED by a reporter, and keep the disrespect to NBA players who deserve it (Kobe as alleged rapist and confirmed adulterer, Marbury the "best" PG in the game, Sprewell "need to feed my family", Damon Jones "best shooter alive", etc etc ETC).

First off, you make it seem as though making the rookie/sophomore game is a given when you are drafted that high with your analogy. Ask Hoffa exactly where that logic would take you. It is a high distinction, albeit not the highest to play in this game. Secondly, if the first half of the season didnt show that CV could hold his own against the rest of the league, I hope you were paying close attention in the rookie game to his game and his numbers after the game. ]]>

Who hated on Charlie Villanueva? I didn't. I just thought that being selected to something as rudimentary as the rookie challenge shouldn't precipitate such a bold proclomation. Charlie is good, and he certainly has more of an aptitude for the big moment than Bosh.

But you can't proclaim yourself vindicated after 53 inconsistent - albeit promising - games as a pro. That speaks to immaturity; which incidentally is to be expected.

(Then again Sunny could have been ripping on somebody else. His grammar left me in the dark.) ]]>

The kid is good. And, along with Bosh, I will promise you the following, he will almost certainly be an All Star by 25 - he is 21 now. Get over the hating. ]]>

I think you're being a bit too harsh with Charles here.

Who wouldn't be moved to say something when one's first sign of acceptance is finally achieved? I wouldn't even label what he said as being that cocky or anything of that sort. He was simply pointing out a fact. He was heavily criticized, yet he accomplished this feat quite easily and is among the top three rookies with anyone in the know.

Simply put, Charlie was just sticking up for himself... and let's not forget the fact that the question that spawned this answer probably went something like this: "Charlie, do you feel like you've proved all those who criticized you on draft night with this latest honour?"
