I booked the mobile storage at All Canadian Self storage. They were great, the driver was accomodating and helpful. The staff on the phone was always helpful and calm even when I was frustrated. Everything survived transit and storage without a scratch. With drop off and delivery it was cheaper than traditional storage. I can't say enough great things. It took untold amounds of stress off the process of moving.
I always recommend them. ]]>

You can find trusted and closer storage with affordable prices from storeitsquirrel.com. You can also get extra money if you list your unused storage space.

So far, they have their renters safety and host storage's trust as top priority for security. ]]>

I wanted to use Centron, based on people's reviews, but they lied about their rate over the phone to try to get me in the door -- truck, movers and all -- and then claimed I hadn't spoken to them. Really dishonest behaviour; I certainly don't recommend.]]>

Well Steven, this looks like a load of bullshit. You've done research all over Canada and determined this is the only drivethrough? Give me a break. I know of at least one other in Etobicoke. If there is any sort of moderator here this clearly looks like All Canadian boosting their SEO or something. BAD FORM!]]>

I've been working in Europe for the last four years and I've been relocated in Toronto for the next four years. I've moved into a condo in the yonge and Eglinton area. It's a great location, but the unit is tiny. I decided to research self storage facilities and found All Canadian Self storage. Iam extremely pleased with the drive through to my storage. It's the only one in Canada that has an indoor drive through. The prices are good, secure and very clean.]]>

Hi Viv,
Peter here from Spaces Self Storage (#1 on this list!). You can certainly put racking in any of our storage units as long as you are not drilling into the walls or floor. We can probably help you source some as well. Our location is quite close to downtown, probably the closest you are likely to find. Feel free to reach me at peter@spacestoronto.com or you can call our office at 416-465-9900. We have many businesses here doing the same thing, and we can even accept deliveries on your behalf. ]]>

Hi, wow that sounds like a really bad experience, Yikes. The service I used was much better, they provided insurance options on their site which I selected for my stuff. They also have a referral system built in for the people storing your items so you know from past users that they are trustworthy- kinda like airbnb but for storage.

i just got my storage space today but so far I am extremely satisfied. I initially contacted them because I've read great reviews about all canadian self storage and the drive thru feature that you won't find anywhere else. The agent I spoke to on the phone was great!. The facility seems well secured and kept up with plus it is climate controlled which is a must for me. The agent that assisted me was incredibly helpful, making sure I knew where everything was, multiple exits, how all the doors worked even where the bathrooms were if I were to need them while there! She left no question unanswered and made me feel very confident in my decision to rent a space with them. I wish all businesses had such great customer service.]]>

About two weeks ago, when we were hit with that huge storm, I had to access my storage unit. I can't even tell you had glad I was that I was at the All Canadian Laird Dr. location! I drove right up to my unit, which is fully indoors. I don't know of any other storage facility in our city with this feature. Also, the staff have always been very helpful.

I had a unit with them for a year, and they went out of their way to give me great value and kept me very happy indeed. I've referred some of my good friends to All Canadian Self storage and they are very happy with the service too. Thank You]]>

All Canadian self storage was the best option for me. The rep i spoke to was very acomadating and organized.. I saved alot of money with their drive through option because my movers just drove to the unit without having to carry all my stuff a long way like we would have in other storage places that i checked in the area. I was charged exactly what i was quoted over the phone and they didnt come up with any surprises. Iam a repeat customer and wouldnt go anywhere else.]]>

I had the privilege of attending a charity function at All Canadian Self Storage last year and not only was I impressed with the facility but also with the owner and the people working there. What amazed me was the size of this place and the huge indoor driveway that ran right through the entire storage area. ]]>

Nothing but problems - they do not read emails so are not on top of customer requirements - I had three issues - one of which being that I could not access my locker on two occasions because they did not active the security code correctly - yes I was fully paid up - they also cut off my lock despite me emailing them three weeks prior to the drop dead date to extend the rental for another 3 weeks and to bill my credit card - I would not recommend them under any circumstances because they lack communication, coordination and professionalism. The actual lockers are spotlessly clean though so that is a plus !]]>

Apple Self Storage on Adelaide hasn't been great. The amount for a smallish locker has ballooned to over $200 bucks a month over the past three years. They've never explained why it keeps increasing (and it increased a lot).

The worst part is that they refuse to tell me when my bill is due. Every month I get an email, on a different day (always, yes, in the last week of the month or in the first week of the following month), with a document dated the day before it was sent saying the account is due (so, on the 29th, at 6am, I got an email saying my account had been due on the 28th -- fortunately, I had the stomach flu and was awake). I paid it right away. Later that day I got an email saying I owed a $10 late fee on top of the bill. In the 24 hours since, I've had 3 emails, one a notice that access to my locker has been suspended.

Then, even if I've contacted them and told them I've paid through my bank, I get phone calls and emails (with subject headings like "payment??????") several times a day, every day, (and calls at 6am, although, yes, I do have an out of province number) until they've received and filed the payment. This is all for 1-3 days overdue.

Finally, after months of complaining and asking for a due date in advance, I was told, just last month, that the bill is due every 29 days.

Again. I've asked repeatedly for billing in advance. Usually I prepay 2-3 months at a time to avoid the problem.

But, yeah. Go for cheaper. I could have bought all new stuff about 3 times now for the close to $8000 bucks I've spent on this place.

It's a great location. But I wouldn't recommend it.

Too many shills posting reviews these days.

For example, I was checking out some of these locations on google maps and I came across an astounding number of reviews for All Canadian: 51 google reviews. The other contenders above had at most a handful of reviews.

Now, check out the 51 reviews for All Canadian and you discover that these reviews came in a highly suspicious pattern of commonly worded praise and rapid fire succession, one day after the next over a concentrated stretch of days. And, surprise, surprise, all these exuberant reviewer for All Canadian, when you check them out, have a single review to their name.

Quite the coincidental that these 51 reviewers, all writing similar positive reviews over one stretch of time, were so motivated by their life-changing experience of a self-storage company that they could not resist the burning urge to review All Canadian on google, yet they had no interest in reviewing any other business in Toronto or elsewhere. Wow!]]>

I used StorageMart, or Instorage, or Apple... names changed so many freakin' times i don't know who i was paying! had a car accident, missed a payment (storage bill of 95$ wasn't top priority...) and they seized and sold my stuff. i had been a tenant for 2 years, never once late, and they sold my stuff. switched to ps, they told me that all storage companies can and will seize goods if you don't pay, but most will be somewhat reasonable. They rented me a place and gave me the option to prepay for the year. i got a free gas card out of it ($100!).

let's just hope they don't sell my stuff as i can't start a junk collection all over again!!!]]>

I'm not sure what Public Storage you used, but I went to the one in Scarborough next to Toyota and it was great. I didn't get dinged on the price based on what floor i was on since i could drive right up to the third floor. How they engineered that i don't know, but it made the move easier.

Now i'm moving to oakville and i had looked into a couple of the storages there. yes i know, i'm moving to the burbs! PS just opened a place there, and since i moved before the cut off date, they refunded my rent for half the month, and reserved me a spaced at the new place. i was surprised when i got there that the old soccer domes i used to play in are now a storage!

oh, and they gave me $100 gas card for prepaying my rent.

I also had a good experience with All Canadian over on Laird street, but it was too far from where i was living.]]>

I've rented from a few different places in Toronto and Vancouver for both work and personal use.

My best experiences have been with Public Storage. The $1 special at move in really helped convince me to go back.

On my last visit they gave me a gas card because I prepaid my rent which helped right before having to drive to the inlaws in north of Huntsville for the holidays!

Nah. Best list ever. Who wants to slog through this kind of research themselves?

BTW if you're willing to go even farther than the 905 area, the price drops even more. I moved stuff from an estate located in Brantford into storage while I moved away for a contract. Rates well under $100 for a 5x5. Just pile'er up high and still easy enough to move to T.O. with a one-way truck rental. ]]>

There are many reasons someone might need self-storage, Jebus. The timing of this article is great for a friend of mine, for example, who's been given notice to leave her apartment but is moving to another country early next year, so she has a few months where she'll need to sublet and/or stay with friends.

But please, BlogTO, enough with the word 'solution.' It doesn't mean anything in this context. You're just using it as a buzzword.]]>

I had a mixed experience with All Canadian on Laird, in theory the place is wonderful and being all on one level with reasonably close drive in access is good. Some staff good, some a little less so. In the summer of 2008 they had huge problems with drainage during the big rainstorms and our unit was at ground zero, we got flooded three times but I honestly believe they have fixed that particular problem. They make a big deal about security but in reality there are all kinds of people coming and going all the time, there's one guy who runs some sort of training classes for blackjack dealers out of his unit. ]]>

Rent/Load a truck.
Drive to the storage place.
Unload it in multiple trips with a dolly up elevators and down hallways (sometimes having to wait for the elevator or loading dock)
When you want it back you have to rent/drive back out to the storage place
RELOAD your crap with multiple dolly trips up elevators and down hallways (sometimes having to wait for the elevator or loading dock)
Drive home
RE-UNPACK it again.

That is total bullsh*t!

That Pods company is the best.

They friggin' drive the box to your door.
You load it.
They come get it.
You want it back, you call them.
They drop it off.
You unload it.
The end.

I hate moving more than life itself and have done both ways and would never ever ever ever use anything but one of those pods.
