Yes - REPAIR. Last spring, we found 3 discarded Razor type scooters over a period of several weeks. I dragged them into the shop and made 2 whole ones out of the 3 trashed ones. That was the start of our scootering. Now we have a couple of Zootr's plus a modified Belize Toucan scooter with 20" bicycle wheels - a sweet ride I use every day to commute.

For the serious enthusiast, Google KickBike or FootBike. Those look like fun !!]]>

I agree with Greg...we already live in a disposable society, so there's no reason to encourage dumping more trash into landfills, especially during the height of a garbage strike...Let's add Repair to the 3 R's - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle]]>

lol nice video. Last time I tried to do tricks on a scooter I ended up with going with an open hand gash to grade 9 orientation 7 years ago. I think I'll stick to killing myself rollerblading over streetcar rails.]]>

"Rarely do they fail, but if it does, you don't need to bother repairing it. Simply, go down to any Canadian Tire or Toys R Us, and for under $40 (or up to $100 for the premium models) you can pick up a brand new ride like it's nobody's business..."

Mmmm, sustainable.]]>

I've got a Xootr scooter that I've been using around TO since last summer. It's bigger than the child's scooters, but it's also faster and more comfortable to ride.

I have a 4k commute that takes me 20-30 minutes on two streetcars plus a little walking. Or I 'scoot' to work and get there in 20 minutes.]]>

I was *just* thinking about this yesterday as I saw 2 young (fashion conscious) gentlemen on Queen West riding their scooters - with an ice cream in hand no less.

I think you just convinced me to try one while doing my errands this weekend!]]>
