exactly.

I am a VERY proud Jew. I however do not agree in the slightest with Israel's policies towards actually almost anything (A WHOLE other discussion)

People like somechick would automatically label me as a anti-semite. Which makes not sense, since I am a proud Jew.

Straw man arguments are funny to say the least.]]>

Thanks Keven.

That is exactly what i am getting at.

Israel is a country, the majority are jews however there are Catholics, muslims, hindus, druze that live there.

Just because I take issue with Issreals policies on CERTAIN issues does not IN THE LEAST make me anti semetic.]]>

>Abraham was from Ur, a Sumerarian city in Mesapotamia which was controlled by the Chaldeans. It is not located in Africa. What distorted history and geography books are you reading? Some people dispute that Ur was located in Turkey. That is not part of Africa either.

"The ancient Sumerians referred to themselves as the "Black headed people." And there is no doubt that the oldest and most exalted deity of the Sumerians was Anu, a name that loudly recalls thriving Black populations at the dawn of history including Africa itself, the Arabian Peninsula, India and even Europe. Equally important is the skeletal evidence exhumed from ancient Sumerian cemeteries, Biblical references in which Nimrod (the Old Testament founder of Sumer) is described as a son of Kush (Ethiopia), architectural similarities, eye witness accounts and oral traditions. All of this data points to and supports an early African origin for the Sumerians of ancient Iraq."

Love the mother and child photo. It warmed my heart to see so many queer parents and their children. Also liked seeing the sex workers. It gave me something to think about.

BTW, I agree with everything BJ said except for the "99%" because I'm sure that the number of anti-Semitic anti-Zionists is lower. However, I'm trying to change the subject. This is a post about the Dyke March, not just about Israel despite the question posed below the related photo. Pride weekend is about acceptance and community. Let's move on and get some additional commentary going.

What did people like about the march?

Harldy. The world does not have a history of hating Kenyans. The world has a clear history of hating Jews, and when you make gross blanket statements (like Israel is an apartheid state), you simply reinforce the hatred the world already has for the Jews. No one wants anyone to die at a checkpoint. Let's all work on that issue. Let's figure out a way to make checkpoints unnecessary, and until we do that, to make the procedure quicker. Without that checkpoint, hundreds more Israelis would have fallen to the planned, deliberate, suicide bombers, encouraged by their community.]]>

So BJ by your logic anyone that has issue with say Kenya's foreign or domestic policies are racist towards blacks (well 99% of them.

Also if "Hate turns into action, and another suicide bomber takes the lives of the innocents." The same can be said about an Arab that is trying to get through a check point while his sick wife dies in his arms.

How did a Dyke march turn into a Likudnik convention?

You're right. Not everyone who protests Israel's policies is anti semitic. Just 99% of them, and I have no doubt you are in the 1%. The problem is, that when you throw around brutal accusations for long enough, people start to believe them. The anti semites feed on the propaganda, using it as yet another reason to hate jews. Hate turns into action, and another suicide bomber takes the lives of the innocents.]]>

It sounds that you have been reading literature from the black hebrew israelites, which is a fringe group and not recognized by any denomination of judaism. Ethiopian jews are welcome in Israel, and although they face discrimination it is not questioned whether or not they are jews. You may also like to read about the Kaifeng Jews of China which is fascinating. Jews come in many colours shapes and sizes. What unifies is our love for Israel, the world and God.

Please do not offend and insult jews by distorting facts so that conveniently suit your arguement. It's disrespectful.]]>

Yes, of course you are right about Semite referring to a group of languages tollah, and I don't disagree that the term is correctly used in reference to hating Jews. However, I still don't think someone who is a Semite is properly called an anti-Semite since that would imply they hate their own kind as well. This is a semantic argument and I sure we could go on forever back and forth but if you look at your explanation then one could argue that a Jew who doesn't speak Hebrew isn't a Semite.
Also, the examples you used are a form of urban vernacular and not proper speech.
It's a moot point and either of us could be right or wrong but we at least agree that people who hate another group irrationally are ill.
Shalom.]]>
