I sympathize with you, man. That's the reason I don't really go to NXNE shows anymore. Ridiculous lines, just to see bands play for about an hour in clubs that are usually way past capacity. Unless you're media, or have an artist pass (I was lucky enough to snag one last year) it's a complete crap shoot in terms of the venues and crowd control. Granted, this kind of nonsense is usually reserved for the "big" acts, and I've been pleasantly surprised with smaller, unknown bands at various venues, but more often than not, your "VIP wristband" equates to: get to the back of the line.]]>

Last night was a total bust for me at NXNE.

I thought I was at the Court House early enough to check out the Arts & Crafts showcase. They stopped taking in red wristbands at 8PM! I stood outside the club (like an idiot) until 12:30AM waiting to see if they were going to let the lineup of 20 some-odd people in. I watched as a lot of folks just sauntered in off the street past the line and the doormen as us red wristbanders waited paitently for our chance to get. Apparently the club was at full capacity. Looked more like an industry party happening in there to us!

Man I was so gutted to read about the surprise show on Pitchfork. So much for buying a wristband.]]>
