Mr. G Bettman is smalled minded when it comes to anything to do with Canada. Isn't obvious to him that the southern US cannot and will not support hockey. They are just not into it, they prefer, football, basketball, baseball, and golf. Does Mr. Bettman not see the potential in bringing the teams back to Canada where they will be supported, especially now with the salary caps. All of the teams in Canada are profitable now, can't say that about many of the teams in the US. Someone needs to take Mr Bettman and give his head a shake. The teams, Phoenix & Nashville should be brought back to Canada it's our game and our culture. One in Winnipeg and one in Hamilton, Sorry every one I live in Niagara and the Hamilton team would be nice. We might actually get to go to an NHL game then in our own country.

This is great news for Canadian Hockey fans. My only concern is where the team would be located. A second team in Toronto?? RIDICULOUS and just shows HOGTOWN is alive and well. What arrogance. The only logical spot is Hamilton. K-W could never support it and Vaughan is just wishful thinking. It's time for Mr.Balsillie to show his cards. Why would fans get on board if they are left in the dark?

Unlike the NFL,NBA and MLB, for years now the NHL, especially many teams in the US, has been made up of "B" list owners, highly leveraged, hence the Coyotes disaster and others to follow. How does Bettman and "some" owners who are "sane" continually attempt to block an "A" list owner like Balsillie, who is willing to overpay for a team which will, in the end, result in an increase in their franchise values? Gary has got to go otherwise the NHL is doomed.

What influence will Maple Leaf Sports Entertainment have on this move possibly happening? Afterall, it will take away from the Maple Leafs market and we know all too well that there are many hockey fans that have supported the Leafs unconditionally because there is no other competition. Definitely not in the benefit of MLSE, the only bonus is that it will create a rivalry in the local scene.

From what I'm reading, the NHLPA and other franchise owners (with maybe the exception of MLSE and the Sabres) would all be for the move. The only one that seems to be against it is Gary Bettman who seems to have a thing against Canada. In the last several years he's blocked attempts to bring less than successful teams back to Canada. He claims "the league prefers to fix it problems rather than abandon cities."

Which is funny, because he was one of those responsible for moving the Winnipeg Jets when they were having trouble making money. Where was the support then, huh?

I can't see the NHL owners or the NHLPA wanting to prop up money pits like Phoenix for very long -- especially when there's a market like Southern Ontario absolutely frothing at the mouth to shower them with money, recession be damned. If they are AT ALL interested in making a profit, they have to cave.

Outside the metro Toronto area and Ottawa area (so, excluding Brampton, Mississauga, Scarborough, etc) the largest metropolitan areas are:

1)Hamilton/Burlington
2)London
3)Kitchener (Cambridge/Waterloo)

If any of those are options, you know they'd want the team in Waterloo.
