I've seen standard white 175-gram Discraft (and Daredevil) discs at Europe Bound Travel Outfitters across the street from MEC. Try there?

Otherwise you can buy a disc from the TUC shop. They're generally cheaper there.

Good luck and happy practicing!]]>

Hi,
I just started playing ultimate this fall, and I'm really glad that I did. Love how everyone gets a chance to play in a point, even though the game might an important one, ie semifinals.
The season just ended, but I'm gonna have to start training & practicing for the next. The problem is I don't have a disc! Does anyone know where I can buy a discraft disc in Toronto?
MEC sells some, but on the site it says that it's a 177g one, not the 175 standard.
Thanks in advance!

Hey, I love playing ultimate, its such a great way to meet people and get in shape real quick. Im in the west end of toronto and have been looking for some pick up ultimate. Does anybody know of anything like that in toronto (preferably west end but not a must), kind of like a drop in ultimate game. I have been living in florida for example where everyone just shows up at a certain park on a certain night and we make teams. I dont have enough people to commit to a team, but would still love to play.]]>

There's really no standard fitness level, but as with any sport, the game is different depending on how athletic and experienced you and the others you play with are. There are leagues for everyone from recreational to elite-level players. You get out of it what you put in; if you push yourself and hone your skills, learn the strategies and plays, and work your way up teams with more experience, you will be playing a faster and more efficient game than if you're in it just to put a little exercise in your schedule.

It's definitely more running than soccer. Either way, you're going to work up a sweat and have fun! And maybe get seriously hooked. I fully agree with Phil; I'm crazy about it and want to keep playing as long as my body lets me.

(Marc--you can bet I'll be at mixed tryouts ;D) ]]>

I've been playing since '92 and must say joining TUC was one of the best things I've ever done - from the ultimate high of the athletics to the ever increasing social circles, fitness and friendship. Although I'm slowing down a little and injuries are a harder to recover from, I hope to be playing until I'm 50, at which time I can pass the disc over to my son to sub in. ]]>

Yup Nigel - I'm most definitely not into the comp. side of things. Competition at that level loses most (if not all) the fun. I'll stick to Gender Blender and regular league for my fun...]]>

Umm Arieh, if that's how you feel, you probably shouldn't try out for Toronto's Goat (http://tinyurl.com/c9s7zp)... ]]>

I must say though, after watching that video, there is a clear *lack* of spirit in those games. While the quality of play, and bids is utterly fantastic, the rampant spiking of the disc, and gloating after points is a bit disturbing...Those games don't look like they have any fun in them...which is quite unfortunate!]]>

Nothing like a feature on Ultimate to start the day right. Come out to a game and watch the spirit and fun happen - I will gladly lend a hula skirt if you wanted to wear one too....Spirit is the most integral part of the game....!

Love it!
