sorry, jono, didn't mean for it to sound like a complaint or 'negative' (and LR is my pref as well!).
it feels weird walking by there, like a part of my history is now a parking lot. i don't want to see what they are going to erect in its place...]]>

Brent - ya,it was sad to see it go; they kept a portion of it, at least (to be fused w/ the new development). Viewing photo-editing (I use LR + and Hp program, btw, not PS) as a 'negative' is like complaining when dark-room developers manipulate shots in their space (which I do as well) - besides, I've seen your stuff - you edit as well ; P

sad to see it go. it has been a long time since i stepped in there as a choir school student. the photos brought back a flood of memories. i remember a certain school mate spiking a volleyball so high it smashed one of the roof lights, lol.

i also remember seeing it in a bank commercial, scotiabank i believe ...

thanks for the photos, even tho they are photoshopped ...]]>

I was shocked to see the building demolished yesterday. My daycare days was spent there in the early 1960's. A Toronto Star photographer took a photo of me, Shirley and another boy (I believe his name was Neil) and featured us in the newspaper. My parents have the newspaper clip in a photo album.]]>

HOLY @$#$!!!

I went to the Choir School and have 2 brothers that went before me! We ALL played in that gym.. We had gym class, track practise after school, SOCCER BASEBALL and obviously basketball!!

My fondest memories were just chillin' on the stage behind the net and watchin my brothers play (and sneaking into the room with all the gym supplies!!).. haha

Mr. Lapointe had NO IDEA!!! hahha... great memories thank you SO MUCH for the photos]]>

Totally wild. I too attended the Choir School. I also captained many basketball teams from the school that used this facility to train and compete. Very bittersweet memories. Thanks for the photos....]]>

I know what you mean OrGaN_DoNoR. I too feel old when reminiscing about the time spent in the "Metro Gym" playing volleyball, basketball, etc.

It's amazing to see how much the landscape in that area has changed since I graduated back in 1999.

It's a shame to see the Metro Gym go.]]>

What a trip. I, too, am a Choir School grad; blows my mind to see my old gymnasium like that. So much time spent there... volleyball, cosmo hockey, dodgeball... wow.
I truly feel old.]]>

Oh my goodness. I went to school at St. Michael's Choir School nearby and we used to use the Metropolitain United building for our gym classes. Seeing that stage and basketball net in such condition kind of saddens me.

It's going to be odd to not see that building there anymore on the corner of Shuter and Church.]]>

It is a bit unfortunate to see these old buildings go, but it's not like they're tearing down the actual church. The parsonage doesn't add much to the already fairly dead corner of Church and Shuter. The Starbucks adds something I guess.]]>
