Last week purchased fresh asparagus and wild leeks(aka ramps) from Culinarium. Made a cream of asparagus soup and when I was done I realized I'd forgotten to put onions in - so quickly added chopped up ramps, warmed them up and used the hand blender and had an absolutely terrific soup dinner. The produce was so fresh and I've never seen asparagus soup that green - it looked so healthy and downright pretty.]]>

Nice selection of products, including some that I haven't seen anywhere else. Just wish that my budget allows me to shop here more often.]]>

Just before the holidays I popped into Culinarium for the first time after a friend said I should check it out. (I love discovering new food shops). I was pleasantly surprised not only by the selection (especially being in the winter) but Kathleen, the store owner, was lovely and really informed when it came to her products. I had initially walked in just to look around, but after seeing what was offered at the store I remembered I needed a creative gift for a friend who's a real food connoisseur. Kathleen help me created the perfect thing and to me the best part was that it was a completely local gift. I have been back a few times now to shop for my own kitchen and will continue to do so. (Oh, and the gift, it was a huge hit!)]]>

You know sometimes you just need a good solid store that sells toilet paper as well as food. I love Lady York at Lawrence and Dufferin for that. They cater to the Italian community, so all the produce is very fresh and reasonably priced. Fantastic deli. Wonderful Italian cheeses and hams. This is really a cook's supermarket. You won't find row upon row of freezer meals. They sell raw ingredients for people who cook. How novel. Staff are nice too. Don't miss Dufferin Fish Market 2 doors down from Lady York, too.]]>

I love the idea of being organic but there's no way we're guaranteed its organic, the other day I purchased Organic cherries from a store similar and i didn't find one worm on any of them in the bag. I remember our neighbour who had an organic tree in her backyard, you'd find a warm for every 2-3 cherries, tells you something?]]>

I'm really excited to see BlogTO review this outstanding business. While you may pay just a little more here, it is more than worth it. A few months back I went in and bought a selection of cheeses for a party. Not only did I get to sample each cheese, the woman helping me (possibly the owner) provided an amazing and detailed background about what I was buying. Try getting that kind of service from the Sobey's or Dominion in the area.]]>
