Having lived nearby I was a frequent visitor to SoTR for both takeout and eat-in and I still go when in the area.  I think you might have been a bit unlucky with the service as I can't honestly think of anything similar happening to us.

The coconut chicken soup, the basil chicken and the beef in oyster sauce are all awesome, and my wife swears by the spicy crispy beef.]]>
