Toronto Wine Enthusiasts: iYellow Wine Club

I am constantly seeking stimulating conversation with down-to-earth people in Toronto, paired with a bold glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. After strolling into the Vineyards Estate Wines Store on Queens Quay Thursday night for 'A Mid Summer's Wine Social' hosted by the iYellow Wine Club, my desires were fulfilled.

Using a plotted map, I navigated through the tasting stations showcasing six 'all-star' Niagara wines that came highly recommended by the club owners Angela Aiello and Paxton Allewell. Within minutes of my arrival, I was engaged in lively discussions with other like-minded young urban professionals who were there to share a common passion for wine tasting.

Cigars excite me. They remind me of tanned men in Euro-style linen suits conjuring up business deals. When asked to attend the launch for Mombacho Cigars, my immediate response was Yes! Yes! Yes!

El Presidente Markus Raty and Cameron Heaps, founder of Steam Whistle Brewery, delivered the unexpected during their stellar soiree, claimed by some attendees as the 'IT' party of the summer. It all took place at Hangar One on the City Centre Airport this past Thursday night.

My appetite was whet after hearing about the Canadian Conservative Government's introduction of Bill C-61 and how artists will respond to what is being hailed a police state if the act is passed. Bill 61 is the Harper Government's attempt at initiating digital locks by ensuring complete control over media that is purchased, rented or downloaded.

The Appropos group, a coalition of artists whose exhibit opened at the Edward Day Gallery on Thursday night is a middle finger to the proposed law displaying imagery of existing popular culture icons.
