NEWS

Target is really making an effort to make a name in Canada; they've just recently announced that they'll be partnering up with Toronto Fashion Incubator (TFI) for the annual New Labels - a national fashion design competition to support and nurture the country's budding new talent. The winner will walk away with $25,000 and the opportunity to create a fashion line (not unlike Target's other designer collaborations) to be sold in locations across Canada in 2014. The competition is now taking applications on the TFI website.

EVENTS/PARTIES

Gain a little bit of insight into forecasted future fashion trends - for spring/summer 2014, to be exact - at Fashion Group International (FGI)'s most coveted event happening tonight (November 14) from 6 pm until 8:30 pm: an exclusive presentation of Stylesight's Megatrends. In other words, be the first to know what twist the fashion world will be putting on florals in one and a half years. Be sure to grab a ticket before heading down to 417 Restaurant & Lounge (417 Danforth Ave).

On Friday (November 16), Canadian museum Design Exchange (234 Bay St.) is throwing their long-awaited annual fundraiser in the form of a big party running from 8 pm to late. Dubbed INTERSECTION, it'll be dazzled with DJs (including Toronto's own Keys N Krates), celebrity chefs, art installations, and balloons. If that doesn't say party, I don't know what does. Get your tickets on the Design Exchange website.

Swap - Don't Shop is back with the November edition of their super fun, sustainable, and stylin' clothing swap. Bring at least 5 clean garments or accessories to Beaver Hall Gallery (29 McCaul St) from noon until 4 pm this Saturday (November 17), drop $8 for admission, stay for snacks, pick up a sweet new haul, and even have it altered on-site!

On Saturday (November 17), Dress for Success is hosting the It's New to Me Clothing Sale from 9 am until 1 pm. Show up bright and early to the third floor of 188 Lowther Avenue to score some second-hand (but gently used) Prada, Pink Tartan, Coach, and more. Plus, spend $75 and get a free gift.

New eclectic bazaar 101 Markets is setting up in the city this Sunday (November 18) at 3030 Dundas Street West. Find vendors with vintage pieces, organic body products, baked goods, and more for your shopping pleasure from 10:30 am until 5 pm.

Celebrate Oliver Spencer (962 Queen St. W.)'s two-year anniversary with the designer of the self-labelled menswear clothing himself next Tuesday (November 20). Plus, peruse the new spring/summer 2013 collection while sippin' on gin cocktails and snackin' on hors d'oeuvres from 7 pm until 10 pm.
