Posted by Sabrina Maddeaux / March 23, 2012

Beauty Trends 2012No look at Toronto Fashion Week is complete without hair, makeup, nails, and in some cases, claws. Here are five top beauty trends from the shows. (Also, don't miss my 7 trends from Toronto Fashion Week post, as well as the best of and the worst looks from this year's collections).

Vamp Lips
Dark plum, navy, and gothic black pouts made appearances at Chloe Comme Parris, Pink Tartan, and Caitlin Power.

We're not in Kansas anymore. Used to create medieval updos at Chloe Comme Parris, french peasant girls at Adrian Wu, and futuristic ponytails at Lucian Matis, these summer camp staples are back and all grown up.

Barely-there makeup at Jeremy Laing, Ashtiani, Rad Hourani, and Travis Taddeo created a variety of muted, fresh, and androgynous looks.

Don't tell Cartman that red heads rocked the runway at many shows, including Pink Tartan, Arthur Mendonca, Joe Fresh, and Joeffer Caoc.

with few exceptions, the faces make the models look 25 going on 45. hard faces make fashion hard to watch. need to visually decapitate them to appreciate the fashion.

I feel like TFW is a bit of a joke on the global scale. Most of the designers are sloppy and seem to have no direction for their collection. I would like to see more well-thought out designs. The models do look a bit too raw and harsh, especially the one in the 4th photo down.

The models look so tired - nothing fresh about this at all. The fact their faces are so tired actually distracts from the mediocre designs. The blue and yellow dress is shoddily put together & I have no idea what is going on with the red, over-sized jacket which seems to be elongated in all the wrong places.

Absolutely no model making an appearance here is wearing "no makeup". All that dewey skin and even colouring probably took the makeup artists hours to create.
