Street Style: Plaid and a Purple Tie
These days I'm never sure if I'll step out my door to a cool frost or a balmy glorious wind blowing in my face. This week, with temperatures continuing to fluctuate, I was seeing a mixture of summer and fall outfits on the street.

What is it with these fashionistas? Where's the style? All looks like kiddie bad attitude to me.
Much better this week. Except for the tie.
I'd go on an archaeological dig with Miranda anytime. That's not meant to sound dirty.
Re: King, The IV's shouldn't be tied up all the way IMO. The rest, I appreciate the attempt at a few splashes of colour because this season's palette has been rather bland. Overall, pretty 'meh'
Yet again I've learned to be hip in this city you have to wear tights, and be size 2.
Thanks BlogTO!
A great Street Style - honest and mostly really hip. Miranda looks like she just stepped out of the pages of "Elle". I love this section and how well it reflects that Toronto really does have a chic factor!
Is it me, or do these street styles start to look like one another (i.e. skinny jeans, leggings, big scarf, tall boots, cropped jacket, big bag)?
it's the same way in just about every city, thanks Fashion!
it's always a little amusing to see how people get all snarky when it comes to other people's fashion, but i suppose it's all a matter of opinion anyway. don't hate, appreciate!
miranda's got it going on, very nice.
Artist or not the short tie is way too short. Speaking of short, what happened to the rest of Tanisha's jacket? I'm not a huge fan of sounding like the Rush Limbaugh of street styles but c'mon peoples! Well to each their own in the "bitter end" as a colleague of mine so eloquently put it this morning. Where's my coffee?! Glad i didn't wear tights today.
Seems we have a city full of students and artists walking the daytime streets. How bout some 9-5er style.. What does a stylin' investment banker look like? Or a mechanic? Are there no fashionable dentists in this city?
i totally appreciate and enjoy looking at what others are wearing..but can we please see something more inspiring than this? most of the people who have been shot look like they work at urban outfitters, are 21 and the only thing they know how to wear are plaid shirts, leggings and bland vintage looking boots from aldo or zara. is this really toronto fashion because if it is than it's kinda sad...and yes i enjoy other sites like notcouture, sartolialist, garance dore (amazing), look book...even hel looks is better than this and that site basically only does weird, sometimes laughable but totally amazing queen west type looks in berlin!
I am so, so sick and tired of girls in leggings/tights. It's not a good look. Get some pants! Or, you know, wear your tights under a dress, not a crotch-skimming t-shirt and shrunken jacket.
To those featured: some styles I like, some I don't. Keep doing your thing.
To the commentors: nobady hates on Torontonians like other Torontonians. Long live the Screwface Capital.
They're wearing tights because it's too cold to go bare-legged. (But yeah, it would help to wear something over top.)
Miranda wins in my book. And who knew you could intern at the Gap? Are they not paying people now?
save lindsay, all the others look like highschoolers. can we see a little more mature stuff please.
miranda can study my bone anytime.
"mature" people have JOBS, and don't spend their weekday afternoons caroming around Yorkville.
Why so many twenty- somethings? And why all in a similar style category? I see some 50+ people on the subway that have mad style! I see some corporate people who look great too (and I am not a "corporate" person, but I can appreciate). This column needs to broaden it's horizons!
That being said, Allie is my personal fav here.
it is a good look, as long as youre thin and your legs arent tree trunks.
do you not follow fashion? or know anything about fashion?
AK looks so boring. hassan and king are pretty uninspired and tired looking. Miranda is HOT. Her look is GREAT!
BORING!!! Plaid shirts, leggings, and flat boots (especially in un-snowy weather) -- meh! Thumbs down to this urban outfitter sale rack nightmare.
Agreed - these aren't bad looks, and everyone looks pretty good, but their style is nothing really worth dwelling over. Let's get something a little more inspired on here, yeah?
Can someone please organize an event like the upcoming DC Tweed Ride??? We need more UK fashion in this town! http://www.projectbeltway.com/2009/11/must-do-dc-tweed-ride-sunday-november-15/
just a reminder and something to note.. not all men are created to wear scarf... so far, I have yet to see any that can wear it well..esp a man wearing scarf in summer or a warm day..you look like a drag queen.. nothing wrong with that if that's the look you are going for
lindsay looks great!
that girl has style.
miranda is a class act.
king's shoes are dope.
darlene's got a point, we need some 9-5er style.
nothing agains tanisha, but no iteration of ugg boots shouls appear on this page.
somebody from blogTO hit up yonge and bloor at lunch.
Completely uninspired and formulaic. Why are all of these tights, boots, plaid and coat worn the exact same way? Walking around any campus and you'll see a thousands of people looking exactly like this. There's a lot of beautiful fall fashion happening around, blogTO. Disappointing choices.
Tanisha looks like a trainwreak. She should find lengths of clothes that flatter her height.
Love the guys in this one! Esp. how Ryan incorporates a circle scarf, I haven't seen a guy wear one yet and he looks great. I love King's look too, he's trendy but well put together. You chose a great location for that pic.
coco is my favorite, she stands out too.. everyone else is mundane
shiny tights and the whole oversized shirt and tie look.... i mean how does this flatter you?
please God let tights dieeee
