Street Style: More Coats, Less Tights
As November progresses it seems that everyone's best friend is a scarf or their fall jacket. So, say goodbye to tights (well, less tights sightings anyway) and hello to lots of layers.

Andrew is the only one with style, the rest are pretty boring. And the rule for vintage clothing should be: Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
The last four are so typical. Why both photographing vanilla jackets you can see on the street?
Bring some more interesting looks to street style.
Less tights? Really, so what you just replaced them with uber tight pants? Do they make Trevor's pants in a MENS? LOL
I really like Zoe’s outfit. Very clean and effortless. For me, she is the ultimate Torontonian-cool, beautiful, relaxed, and dating a handsome bartender. She is the “Queen Street Type”.
As for everybody else, Andrew looks decent, but a little bit too put together. Oh, and his sleeves are way too short. Rebecca-well, maybe I just don’t understand… Nicole, Ana, Alison-soooo average. Nothing memorable, nothing outstanding.
"Field: Government / Fashion Design" - a combo perhaps as awkward as those pants.
Jonathan: The grammar is still hit and miss under "field"... either it should consistently be "management" (not "manager"), "photography" (not "photographer"), etc., or the label should be switched to "occupation". This should be easier than finding subjects that aren't wearing tights or tights-equivalent pants.
I dunno...I have an issue with the black leather jacket, black purse, dark jeans, and BROWN shoes. I don't know why people think it's acceptable to mix and match brown and black...
Rob, you are right in general, but in this case Zoe does a good job matching belt and shoes. Besides, brown breaks up otherwise all-black outfit.
Really? I don't understand why I haven't been photographed yet. And then included in the hall-of-fame. People in Barrie wear the stuff pictured above!
Because it can work. Depends on the shade of brown -- a really dark, rich brown looks great with black.
Hehe. Only in North America can "too put-together" be a criticism. I agree a little effortless is quite important, but in a sea of people who don't have any inkling of cut or fit, I can tolerate a little "too put-together" once in a while.
I'd really like to see different silhouettes. I'm pretty tired of this one shape -- skinny pants/leggings, short jacket (invariably, a black leather bomber), chunky heels/knee boots. It's done to *death* and so many women in Toronto can't seem to imagine any kind of fashion style any older than 1980.
How about some skirts? A-line dresses? Wide-leg trousers (hemmed so they are *not* soaking in mud!)? A woman in a good suit?
Andrew = the only yes yes yes for me!
Jessica and Joe = really? asides from Jessica's scarf their outfits are boring.
Trevor and Zoe = I don't get it.... because they're wearing all black? I don't see what is so fantastic about them!
Rebecca = love the sweater and the bag! Not so much love for the jeans or the 80's bangs
Ana = is this a leftover street fashion 2005 image? and UGGs? Really?!
Nicole = I'm going to go easy on her bc she's a student and it's not her fault Blog TO didn't realize her boots were on Aldo's store shelves in 2007.
Ana = wow, she wears all things safe and status quo and she gets in a street style section? A COACH BAG!? REALLY!?
Alison = cardi is cute, but thirteen year olds put on outfits like this before opening their eyes in the morning, so who cares!
Glad to see you've stopped taking photos (for the most part) of people posing in the middle of a busy street.
For safety. Just sayin'.
Apparently the tight pants/leggings, large scarf and short coat combo is what everybody is wearing this season.
I can only assume all these replies are a joke, right?
Who the F cares what these people are wearing?
Booooooring! Geez... I`ve never considered myself to be much of a fashionista, but compared to this sad lot I`m a bloody runway model!
Andrew has the cake, but not the icing. He looks uncomfortable like he might have a pickle up his butt.
Andrew looks fabulous. Zoe is alright. I actually love black and brown together; I think her outfit would have been really boring without the brown accessories. Allison looks really cute too. I am still waiting to see some age 35+ people represented here... I know they're out there!
Most of these people look slovenly. Except Andrew. He looks awesome.
Ana is meh. I'm rather peeved about that fact too, as I happen to have a Mackage coat myself (in brown). It's so lovely and fitted and warm, but if I look as meh as her in it...well, I don't know anymore.
i don't know why everyone thinks andrew looks to fabulous.his coat is too small, pants too tight and he stands like this model http://www.shopbop.com/drapey-stretch-sequin-dress-alexander/vp/v=1/845524441856578.htm?folderID=2534374302029428&fm=whatsnew...
Uh, too many with no style at all. Too long, misshapen pants just don't cut it.
Andrew? I see what he's trying to do, but the short pants and shortened jacket sleeves not to mention shrunken jacket...makes me wonder, we expecting a flood? Did he just walk out of the movie 2012? Oh, he already did get caught in a flood and his stuff dried. A black and white kaffiyeh woulda been a better choice for scarf.
Joe? Holy smokes, what a slob!
You call wearing black
black
black
black all the way down
style?
They're different shades and ages old and too many washes. OUCH!
No Style.
Ana, Sales Mgr. has style. The bag, coach or whatever at least works.
Alison, Office Asst? Dump the ballet slippers, jeebus! Buy the right size tights while you're at it - too long. sloppy. tsk. tsk.
Can we show some old folks? Some know more about style than this lot.... with a few exceptions.
This has been fun.
NEXT!
Andrew has style!!!
Jessica. Just stunning. I am loving the scarf! Cute shoes to accentuate those SEXY legs!!mmhmm
Joe. Lovely jacket. Just happy to be with the lovely miss. His smile says it all~
i still wear uggs -- but reserve them only for when i'm walking my dog. maybe ana's dog was just out of frame?
I'm also that person -- 'fewer', not 'less'. 'Less' isn't just a not-ideal word choice here, it's utterly grammatically incorrect.
Andrew looks good. Leather jackets!!!! Almost too cold to wear them anymore. Dress to party?? Stay tune for FW's 25th issue.

Not a real fan of the skinny jeans, especially the guys who where them on their knees, but these people pull it off. Especially Andrew.
I don't think that Ugg's (or Emu's or any other of that style of shoe) are really that bad. I actually think that if you are doing something sort of sporty- casual (like running around doing errands, going to the gym or yoga, etc), they make sense as a really comfortable, warm shoe. I wouldn't wear them when I am actually putting effort into my look, but as a functional warm boot, don't knock 'em till you've tried 'em!
what do you guys expect?! This is TORONTO, NOT PARIS. In any case, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
To everyone who is knocking these peoples outfits, i'd like to see what you put on the the morning.
Good Lord, I agree.
@Heidi and K: I believe the very essence of being a sartorialist is being able to critique an outfit. :) And if we DON'T critique, this city will never aspire to be Paris (and it really should).
Hey, I didn't consent to have my photo taken for a fashion feature on a city blog. You put yourself out there, you get some knocks.
