Street Style: Blue Shades, Blue Hair and Beyond
I think I really like this week's Street Style selection. Each person is a little different and has their own way of expressing themselves. Keep in mind we aren't the fashion police over here. We just like looking at interesting streetwear.

I never noticed until today that so many of them are standing on the road...Evanne and Nedine even have a car coming straight at them. I'm amused.
Skinny jeans are ugly. They are ugly. They make your legs look ugly. Please for the love of God stop wearing skinny jeans. Because they are ugly.
Look, Allie is standing by a dumpster. Is that where he got his outfit? There must be a dumpster just to the left or right of Travis and Jill too.
Yeah not a huge fan of what Megan is wearing...where she off to anyways, escort tryouts? Sorry Meg I'm sure you're a nice person but c'mon be reasonable...Halloween's over. I'm liking Kerry's look though, nice jacket! It's not safe to play in traffic. What did your parents teach you? Anything for Fashion I guess...
just wondering if these people are stopped on the street at random? some people are wearing parkas and scarves and some are wearing t-shirts and flats with no socks.
some people look good and then the last two people look kind of shitty.
Apparently you can see Ramona from a few weeks back behind Megan and Raf

Yowza. Nobody can accuse Travis of not having an "individual" style. And those shoes! Are those from a clown supply store?
And yeah, Megan totally looks like she's missing something. Clearly doesn't live with her mom, or else she never would've been allowed to leave the house looking like that. Not that I disapprove of a no-pants look for hot girls.
Skinny jeans actually make the person look better and less white trash to me. Boot cut, and others remind me of the ninties and the backstreet boys.
God, I must be waaaaaay out of the fashion touch. I didn't know we were now matching our hair colour to our footwear!
I've got to agree with FP on this one. Skinny jeans on boys should be banned. I also decree a universal ban on fluorescent sunglasses and pointy man-shoes. (It's the new white trash) Skinny jeans don't make guys legs look appealing; it's quite the opposite. (as evidenced by Allie and Raf)
they're called slim or straight-cut jeans my friend.
as per usual, more missed than hits here but I do like this feature on blogto.
As a Fashion Communications Student, Travis should realize that the only thing he is communicating is his lack of fashion sense. Sorry, there is pushing the boundaries, and then there is not even knowing where the boundary is - and unfortunately Travis falls into the latter category. Fashion industry or not, no one will employ this clown.
Chic in the Docs I'd do, but the rest look foolish. The guy in the blue hair: go back to Vancouver.
I'm surprised there isn't more compliments for Qing. I love the colour of his pants, almost what cords would normally be. A classic outfit that might normally go unnoticed but because of the fit and subtle differences I would sure turn my head walking by on the street.

You can call them supercoolbeautiful jeans
but that doesn't change the fact that
they transform women's legs into
unflattering gross slabs of meat that look like
denim sea lions.
And they make guys look like
clown gymnasts from the Jordache circus.
I love Qing's look too. It is simple, understated, but interesting. He doesn't look like he is trying to hard. He looks comfortable and weather- appropriate. I also find Kate's look to be interesting. There is a sense of quiet and depth to her. And Ramona still looks fierce posing in the background of Megan and Raf's pic.
you are correct - he is by far the best dressed guy in these shots, perhaps overall. His pants are a unique and striking colour, but unlike clown-boy, he puts it all together very nicely. His shoes are the perfect contrast to the pants...similar but not so similar that they clash.
love Evanne and Nedine, but my favorite is Qing Bo. He looks great, very confident in what he is wearing. Could be a shot from The Sartorialist!
Is Raf intentionally making his legs do that, or is it a conditioned response to being photographed?
I think you guys are forgetting fashion is just about having fun, not about what the guy next to you thinks. Everyone looks good here in their own quirky, unique way. Good eye!
well, if you are anything more then size 8-yeah, true. But skinny jeans are made for skinny people. If a size 14 cow is wearing them....no comments
I really like these fashion posts, but can't you post someone who's not tall, thin, and white next time? There's plenty of fashionable people that's not tall, thin, and white, and they probably took more effort into their fashion because it's not as easy
TOGirl: I'm pretty sure calling someone a "cow" counts as a comment.
Qing Bo is by far the best dressed person here. And poor Megan. She happens to get photographed by Street Style on the one day she accidentally only gets half dressed. What were the odds.
LOL. Although he's taller than Megan, his legs look much shorter. I wish this below-the hip style jeans fad ends soon. Why do guys want to appear to have short, stubby legs?

Only fat people hate skinny (slim) jeans because they can't fit in them. Even if they did somehow succeed to put them on the jeans force all the fat up over the belt line, resulting in the ever hilarious muffin top.
Don't hate on the jeans just cause you can't fit in them. Just sayin'.

What's the attraction in the style of pants that all the guys (aside from Qing) are wearing? It makes them look like they have short legs and disproportionately long torsos, like they're transitioning from human to oompa-loompa.
Qing Bo redeems an otherwise questionable group.
"There's plenty of fashionable people that's not tall, thin, and white, and they probably took more effort into their fashion because it's not as easy"
Wow. you seem like a very angry person. Also somewhat racist?! It's easier for a white person to get dressed?! a serious WTF to you, Jess! I've been featured on the site before and am 5"6 140 pounds. Not tall, not skinny.
Why do you keep coming back to this site if it doesn't appeal to you?
I want to point out that being thin is not "easy" unless you're strictly talking high-end fashion, which I don't see at all here. Regular (mass-produced/mall) shops fail to recognize me, a true size zero woman (i.e., not a girl). I am short but nothing a pair of 4 inch stilettos can't easily fix. I am also black, but thankfully that doesn't make it harder for me to get dressed everyday.
The effort one puts into their look is usually directly correlated with how much they care about it. So while I took more effort this morning to get dressed than my tall, white, co-worker it's because I was born with a true love for fashion and I am all about my personal appearance -- as narcissistic as that probably sounds. In my experience, most people either don't care how they look or they think it's too much effort to consistently keep up with.
I am not going to insult your opinion, because it is yours, you're entitled to it, and this is "just the internet," but give the street fashion folks a chance. If you look at what was posted here and also during FW you will see a few non-white, non-tall, non-thin people :)
Good god, people are super mean. If people in Toronto are really this judgmental about strangers they see walking down the street, I should probably feel terrified and move somewhere a little more easy going.
On to substantive comments ...
Qing Bo is perfect. Megan needs a lesson on the "time and place" for undergarments. The rest in this set alternately confuses me or leaves me very fashion uninspired.

What are you, 12?
No, people with no sense of proportion or style or the human form wear skinny jeans.
Believe me, everybody else laughs at you.
The jeans look horribly unflattering on women, and ludicrously clownlike on guys.
These are, for the most part, not normal people. Noone I know dresses like people in these photographs. Remember that sometimes being unique does not make a good style. Style should compliment the substance, not the other way around. But it is interesting to see all these people dressing up like clowns. And I've never seen so many students.
sorry everyone, I have been MIA, miss me?..catching up on things.. let's see..
Alicia, why are you using the scarf to cover your private part? you have a monthly surprise guest?
Travis, travis, travis, Halloween is over, and we are not in Renaissance.. ok?ic, maybe you work for medieval times?'
Kate, you need a new hair do.. you are looking like a goose
Raf, your feet are so twisted, how do you do that?
no, I didn't know that.. you have any pics to share? but i know chinese people make that underwear you are wearing now
What a sorry bunch. Travis looks like something Scotty mistakenly beamed onto the Enterprise...needs a good phasering. Allie likes his shades a little too much...he obviously can't see how dorky long his sweat ties are. Kate's duds are alright, but she looks 28 going on 60. Qing looks like he just escaped from a PLA firing squad. Is this what colder weather does to people's fashion sense??
WHAT IS THIS CITY'S FASHION BECOMING?
I FEEL LIKE ITS A RACE TO LOOK THE UGLIEST.
GOD ADD SOME COLOUR INTO YOUR FASHION.
WALKING THROUGH QUEEN WEST I FEEL LIKE I AM ATTENDING A FUNERAL OF POSERS.
DISGUSTING
To call any one cut of jeans good or bad is preposterous. I wear skinny jeans because for my body type, they work better than anything else. I want to hate them, I really do. Hours upon hours of trying to find jeans that looked good on me convinced me otherwise. For me, boot cuts make me look short and fat, but that's just me and I'm jealous of girls who can pull them off.
As for the people pictured here, mostly unremarkable. I wonder how long it takes to cobble this section together? There can be some points attributed for...uniqueness and vision. About a third of these people are reasonably attractive and well-dressed, but nothing I'd write home about. A for effort?
I really liked this weeks posting. I've been following Jon Loeks street style section since he began doing this and it keeps getting better and better. Your pics are clear, concise and always interesting.
Keep up the good work you little mongoose.
I would love to take all these creative people featured and get on a bus to Montreal away from the critical, annoying, Toronto-centric bull$#&@. Or better yet rewind to the 90s.
Who cares how they dress? Would life be easier if we all looked and dressed the same? Do you know how boring that would be.
Who cares how they dress? You do, they do, everyone who comments does, I do. That's why this section exists.
1. Show pictures of people with a distinctive/creative style.
2. Comment on photos. Like or dislike.
3. Try not to get too worked up about it.
I make it easy on myself... I wear nothing but black baggy jeans and solid colour tshirts every day. I communicate my style and personality through my words and actions!
Anyone who says these people aren't "normal" is probably right. And that's why they're featured here. Do we really need to see someone else in a v-neck, jeans, and keds? No. I'm not saying that doesn't look good on some people - it does. It just doesn't take much effort. These people are expressing themselves. Let them do it. Sure, some of the looks aren't exactly appealing, but who cares? Would you rather everyone just take a group trip to Abercrombie and buy a whole whack of FITCH t-shirts? ...Didn't think so.
The blue-haired guy who wore those Blue doc martens, they're sooo hot. As for the 6th picture with glasses, black scarf and leather(?) jacket, I went to the same high school with him a couple years back.
