Holy hell! This is the greatest thing I've ever seen.
Yes! Yes! Yes!

So does this have anything to do with the street personality?

Posted by: A.R. at December 11, 2007 2:07 PM

A.R.: the faithful know there is but one true zanta. to speak his name is to know thee many pushups.

Yay! Let's profit by "celebrating" the brain-damaged!

Can you do one for the toothless crack addict who wanders the subway asking for change? Perhaps if he put on a silly hat and gave himself a wacky name?

Posted by: Paul at December 11, 2007 4:26 PM

Okay, I snarked a little too soon, didn't notice proceeds were being donated to charity --- but I still think this is in poor taste.

Posted by: Paul at December 11, 2007 4:29 PM

So this is a T-shirt celebrating a shirtless guy?
Hipsters, get in line: this is the most ironic shirt ever!

Posted by: Eva at December 11, 2007 4:58 PM

we should send a box of these to CityTV. I'm ordering one!

Posted by: Hamish Grant at December 11, 2007 5:32 PM

Paul, have you ever tried talking to David Zancai? He's awfully eccentric but I wouldn't call him brain-damaged or crazy. I wonder if he'll get to see these, I think he'd like them.

Posted by: Chris Orbz at December 11, 2007 5:50 PM

And there SHOULD be a shirt for the gummy crackhead guy in the subway. He's as much a part of our community as anybody who works at City.

Posted by: Matt at December 11, 2007 7:10 PM

May I just say that Eva's comment was the funniest thing I've read on the web today.

Posted by: Sameer Vasta at December 11, 2007 9:33 PM

See, by not mentioning him, I thought that these could be festive shirts with a "z" for zing (a long shot admittedly).

Posted by: A.R. at December 11, 2007 9:50 PM

actually, dave zancai is brain damaged. There is a lot of things you don't know about the guy. Sadly enough, it's not that much of a 'personality', and very close to the real thing. It actually angers me that a portion of the EI that I pay go to him (yes, he is on disability and has been collecting cheques for years).

Hell, you should of saw him before he got the hat and spoke to crowds of people waiting for the bus.

Posted by: no name given at December 12, 2007 11:05 AM

No Name- you claim he has brain damage and then say you're angry he gets disability payments? You sound like a winner.

I think the T-shirts are cool, and I bet Zanta would love them too. He would probably even break his no-shirt rule to wear one!

ohh common guys... that guy's a friggin psycho. my best friends used to live right above his apt, he's a horrible mean human being who should never have become a father, let alone made any more famous

Posted by: Chris at December 12, 2007 6:06 PM

Chris, stop being a Grinch! He's part of what makes Toronto a fun place to live. I always look forward to my next Zanta sighting.

Posted by: roger at December 12, 2007 10:00 PM

wow, thanks for editing my comment like that. I'm one of the people that Laura is referring to. He made life hell. Which is why I'm not leaving my name.

Posted by: no name given at December 13, 2007 7:54 PM

Not that this should be taken as gospel, but his wikipedia claims his injuries are physical and not brain related.

Unless his time in a coma resulted in brain damage...doubtful with the wonders of oxygen masks

Posted by: filmfat at December 14, 2007 10:20 AM

Someone told me that Zanta moved to Brampton and no longer lives in Toronto. I haven't seen him months (and I live and work downtown) Does anyone know if this is true or not?

Posted by: CA at December 14, 2007 7:42 PM

So what do we leave Zanta for Christmas, cookies or protein powder?

Posted by: Danielle at December 15, 2007 7:38 PM

^^^LOL

Posted by: Jerrold at December 15, 2007 8:26 PM

Not sure if this is place to do it but I would like to nominate Houses Opening Today Toronto as the designated charity. I sent an email with more details but thought it would be a good fit as many of our tenants have mental health issues.

Posted by: Corinne at December 16, 2007 12:34 PM

Zanta is a blight on this city. He is a drugged out very aggresive moron who deserves to be locked up or in an insane asylum.

Posted by: Holy Crap at January 6, 2008 11:14 PM

Talk to him when he's not in character,
you'll find out he isn't a fucked up guy at all.
He's actually really nice.

Posted by: Brandon at February 4, 2008 6:15 PM

And he doesn't have brain damage, you twats.

Posted by: Brandon at February 4, 2008 6:16 PM

Hey I'd like to get in touch with Zanta for a gig which I will promote he would be part of it. It will be very entertaining.

However Zanta's email he had written on his chest does not work. (zantahohoho@yahoo.ca or zantahohoho@yahoo.com)

How can I get in touch with that guy?

Best:

Alex
