When someone you know is affected by breast cancer, the cause becomes very dear to your heart. With almost 5,000 women under the age of 50 being diagnosed with breast cancer every year, it is no wonder that there is pink everywhere we look this month.

Everyone from KitchenAid's Cooking for the Cure with the "put some pink in the mix" products, to pink M&M's, a limited edition New Cook Book, pink Havaianas, cell phone charms at Payless Shoes, and Wonderbra's bras with a cause, are doing what they can to cure this cause.

My personal favourite is the Foxy Originals Rethink Breast Cancer Guardian Angel Charm Necklace (pictured). This sentimental statement is available in silver and gold for only $40.00. All proceeds will be donated to Rethink Breast Cancer and can be purchased at Shop Rethink or Snazzygirl. This charming necklace will melt your heart.

So what are you waiting for? Shop for the cure today!

If only a few of the mega-corp consumer goods concerns involved in the "buy pink trinkets" movement would, rather than investing more energy in marketing, invest less in lobbying for ever-lower corporate income taxes. Then diseases like breast cancer -- not to mention those as- or more-fatal cancers that get little PR love -- could be tackled with way more funding. And maybe hospitals wouldn't need to run lotteries. And our public health insurance wouldn't need to be continually rolled back. And...

But yeah. I do appreciate it when small business pitch in, though.
