Enter the blogTO T-Shirt Design Contest

It's getting hotter out; and all of us here at blogTO are running out of things to wear. Rather than doing another cycle of laundry, we thought we'd get some blogTO t-shirts printed up; and to do that we've decided to launch the inaugural blogTO t-shirt design contest.

The premise is simple. Create a kick-ass design and email it over to us. We'll post all submissions to the blog and ask you, our readers to narrow it down to 2 or 3 finalists. The blogTO editorial team will then select a winner.

And what do you get for your efforts? We don't expect you to do this for free, so we'll be giving away a cash prize of $150 plus a free t-shirt to the winner. If you're interested, read on for the rules and regs.

Here are some rules and regs you must agree to and keep in mind when you're creating your design:

1. The design must be your original work. We won't be able to select a design that infringes on anyone else's copyright.

2. The t-shirt will be screen printed using spot colour. As such, please keep your designs to 3 pantone colours or less. It's totally up to you to choose the colour(s). While our new logo is red, we're not married to the idea of a red t-shirt or red ink. Feel free to use the colour(s) that you think will deliver the strongest design.

3. Placement of the design on the t-shirt is up to you, although it should be one placement only. We can print the design on the front, back, shoulder, wherever! But we only want to do one placement so that costs don't spiral out of control. If you can, when you send us your design, send us a mockup where it should appear on the t-shirt.

4. The design should incorporate the blogTO logo in some way. We don't really care how. And the logo doesn't need to be the focus of the design. It just needs to be on there somewhere. For a copy of our logo, download the eps version. Update: Here's a non CS2 version

5. Submit as many designs as you like. We don't mind variety because it will give us a greater pool to choose from.

6. By submitting your design, you give us the non-exclusive rights to use your design for a blogTO t-shirt or other blogTO promotional materials.

7. We reserve the right to select no design (and therefore no winner) if we think all the submissions are lame.

8. The contest is open to Canadian residents only, excluding Quebec.

9. The deadline for entry is June 25th, 2006.

To send us your design(s), email it to contests [at] blogto.com. Include your name and a short description of it that we can post to our site; and if you have a web site of your own, send us the url so we can link to it. The file format of the submission doesn't matter. But if you're selected as the winner, we'll need a colour-separated EPS version for when we go to print.

When the contest is over, t-shirts will be made available for sale at an afforable price. All t-shirts will be printed on American Apparel.
