I go to Ivan's Hair Salon, not just because I get the haircut I want, or because its close to where I live, or because many of my friends go there. Mostly its because over the many years I've been going, my life has been deeply enriched by the wonderful woman, San San, who is so intelligent and who cares to do good in the world. She knows so much! I love her politics. Her field of study was nuclear physics and we're lucky she's around. I'm definitely her fan. If you need a lift to your spirits, just drop in and have her warmth surround you.

The hair cuts have been excellent. I appreciated the fact that she listens very

I've been going here about three years and am more happy with the ladies here than any other barber shop I've ever been to. Rather than looking at my haircut as a chore, I look forward to chatting with them as a break from my day. They're polite, speedy and most importantly, they cut hair well!
I can understand why someone might have a problem with the not-so-great English skills of a couple of the ladies, but so what. You just need to make yourself clear.
I can't say much for the guys that work there, as I also stick to the women, but my partner had his hair cut by a guy there and it was the best cut he's had in years.
Yes, they did raise their prices to $17, but is that really too much to pay for consistently good haircuts and service? I don't think so. I'm an Ivan fan for life
.I've been getting my hair cut here for 19 years, since I was 6 years old. San San always cuts my hair exactly how I like. I can be very specific. When I was a kid and had my Jim Carrey phase, I asked her to give me a bowl cut like from Dumb & Dumber, and she gave it to me. When I wanted to get the same haircuts as my older brother, she would always do them just how I wanted. Now, as an adult, I have more serious requests, and she does them impeccably. I came in this past week and asked to look more Asian, and she did just that.
We are very proud to have special Barber/ stylist. Nick has 27 years experience and masterpiece haircut.

I have been a regular customer for almost 27 years, and I have seen many of the changes as the orignal barbers retired. San San (Owner) has done a great job keeping the traditional atmosphere. Staff and customers alike always seem to be happy and friendly, and their skills are excellent.
If you are looking for a new place to get your hair looked after, I'd recommend checking Ivan's out. You should make an appointment as it is often busy.

Not a good haircut, hair on one side of the head are longer than on the other side and longer strands throughout the head stick out like sore thumbs. Not going back.
For those that place value above quality, this is your place. At $18 per haircut this is easily the cheapest place downtown.
