Ella + ElliotElla + Elliot stocks imaginative, stylish nursery furniture with European flair. The store is curated almost like a gallery and is the exclusive Canadian seller for a number of different lines. The cribs and changing tables are sleek and sophisticated and not at all babyish.

Not only was the very expensive crib that they sold us of poor quality (enough as to be unsafe for our baby), their service was even worse. When alerted to the problem with the crib, they indicated that they were going to look into options and follow up with us, which they never did, even though they knew time was of the essence to us. They were exceptionally rude, even as to suggest that the defective product was somehow our fault. I bought our stroller, a crib and numerous gifts there, totalling thousands of dollars and this is how they treat a customer?? I highly suggest you look elsewhere!!

I went in to this store when it first opened, and spent about 15 minutes looking around. I was very obviously pregnant at the time, and I would have expected SOME kind of service, as I was clearly interested in their products. Not once did anyone so much as glance in my direction, let alone say hi. I left, and never went back.

Funny. These bad review seem pretty out of context considering this store rates five stars, and made it to the "best of Toronto" list based on votes. I also find it hard to believe that such a store would sell an "unsafe" crib. Aren't there regulations against that sort of thing?

Either these ladies are exaggerating, or... just trying to make the store look bad?

This store is my absolute favourite in the city. From the moment I walked in (at 4 months pregnant and not showing yet) to the present day, the staff has been more than helpful and they always remember my name (including my baby's name). The products are top notch, modern and very durable. When stopped on the street by other moms commenting on my gear I always tell them how fabulous Ella & Elliot is and why... and now you all know too!

I've loved this store from day one. Everyone I know goes there first when they're looking for the latest and greatest in kids' stuff. You can be sure to find unique pieces that you won't see elsewhere and you can also find larger brand names too. As to pricing, they are competitive with other stores when it comes to the big brands. I like the personal touch -- they greet you but leave you to browse on your own without jumping down your throat. When you do ask a question, they are helpful and knowledgeable. Plus, there's parking -- a real plus in this city. Great selection, cool stuff, good prices; I highly recommend it. Like the store and the people, hope they continue to do well.

I have to laugh ... I had the polar opposite experience to "jules". I was greeted, treated well and I did bother to ask about their pricing. All prices are consistent with what I've seen elsewhere for the same products and, according to the staff and friends of mine who shop there, they'll match a lower price, should you be able to find one. I agree that the store looks expensive and is beautifully designed, which I actually admire but it doesn't mean that it's "overpriced". Hey, if I had a dollar for every time I was ignored in a store, I wouldn't need to ask about pricing. I spent over 20 minutes with an impatient toddler in an uptown store on bayview (so irritated that I can't even remember what the place was called) and NO ONE even looked my way. I could go on and on ... everyone has a bad day, maybe you just chanced on one of those. In any case, I give this store a big thumbs up.

Hi Jenny, Do you mind me asking which crib did you buy from them and what was the problem you encountered with it? I ordered one back in August and still have not gotten it.

This place is Hit & Miss. I have had a very friendly customer experience, then another time was completely ignored. The store owners should take note, and be more attentive to who they hire & how their staff interact with customers.

Sorry Paul - just seeing your post now. The screws the crib came with were flimsy and the place the screws were to go into the grooves were so poorly done that when we were putting the crib together they ended up stripping (hence if we put it together it would have been weak in the joints and therefore unsafe). We understood this was not the stores fault and so went back to them (with pictures) to show them and basically their response - was bring the crib back and buy another one (all the others they had in stock were more expensive and not what we wanted), or we can order you a new one and that may take months. Given the situation and our need for a crib asap, I asked for our money back (as they have a store credit only policy) and it took them days to get back to us and say they would be willing to do that. And when they finally did do that - the woman basically said it was our fault that we needed a crib "now" and we should have ordered our crib months ago. (However when you buy a crib for over a $1000 you don't expect that you will have an issue.)

As for the other comments. I loved the store, the look, the products and was fine with the prices and they were always lovely to me before we had a problem. It was when we had a problem that we sought to rectify that they were a bit rude and unresponsive for days.

Hi Lisa,

I am not exaggerating, nor just out to make the store look bad. I shopped at this store, happily many times before. Bought my Bugaboo there, bought most of my baby shower gifts there and recommended people stop by and check it out (I probably have rated it online very positively in the past). All was good, until I had an issue and they dealt with it so very poorly (I haven't even said half of it, it was really a bad experience) and that has changed my perspective on this store. I learned that the true test of a quality store is not when you are happily giving them money for their products and service, it's easy to be nice and responsive then, but how they deal with a customer, when things hit a bump. They failed...big time.

If you have enjoyed the store (which you don't say at all) - great! That's your opinion and you are free to share it, I have not said anything about you exaggerating your experience, or that you are out to make the store look "good" - so please refrain from trying to cast my comments in any other light, other than a my experience which I have every right to share.

We are very satisfied with this store; the store went out of their way to make us happy. I will totally recommend this store to anyone; their furniture and accessories are unique and beautiful. The owners and staff were great with us from the beginning, polite and very helpful, always willing to work with our needs. We are very happy we choose this place to buy our baby furniture. Our baby room looks great!!!

Lisa-the experience of these ladies are not exaggerated to make this store look bad-i would have loved to support this store as it is in my neighbourhood-the staff is completely clueless about their product and even worse is the lack of service from the manager and owner-i dare you to order any furniture from them-hopefully you will receive it stress and on time before the baby arrives. GoodLuck!! Unless the owners are independently wealthy I don't see how this store will survive.

I thought of buying my Stokke Xplory 2010 at Ella&Elliot, but after visiting this store couple of times, i had to change my mind. First of all the staff instead of greating you, looks you up and down trying to measure your social status. I understand , that all stores do that, the only thing not that obvious. Also if you ask them a question they look clueless. I did buy my Stokke, but at CSNBABY.COM.

I recently went to Ella + Elliot from a friends recommendation. I was very nervous to make this trip into the City as it's about a 2 hour drive from my residence, but upon arrival, all my concerns disappeared. I was greeted right away upon arrival and the staff was friendly and very helpful. I am a first time mom (due in a few months) so I was given many recommendations on what to look for and what my options were for each item. Both my husband and I loved the crib, stroller and other assorted items that we purchased. I have gotten TONS of compliments on my purchases and I would 100% recommend this store to all my friends.

I have read some of these comments, and I just think that people are being really hard on the store. By looking at the website, you know what the items cost, so going into the store, it should NOT be a huge shock.

I hope that people realize everyone is bound to have a different experience and just know that I am/was one very HAPPY customer!!!!

Since I love the products offered I had to give Ella and Elliot a try. Unfortunately I have to agree with most when it comes to their poor service.
We asked about a stroller (being 7 mts pregnant I would concider myself a good potential customer).
My husband got interrupted by the girl SITTING DOWN behind the counter. Apparently she had something more important to talk to her co-worker about than to even hear his whole question out. She did not bother to stand up (she might have been legless, i couldnt tell) during our whole conversation.
She was clueless about the products and would not assist with finding out answers she herself did not know the answer to.
We to bought our Stokke stroller, stokke carrycot, changing table, crib and carseat at other stores where we could get the help we wanted. After trying two times I gave up!
Reading some of the comments above makes me think someone might be one of the snotty girls from the store trying to save a rep.
If I were the owner of this store i would be mortified. My tip would be to invest in a sales & service workshop for all employees!!

I had the money to spend, and they are now in your competitors pocket!

I must say that I have had a similar experience. I love all the products but unfortunately have always received poor customer service. Not only were the staff short with their answers but after asking to speak to the manager I was surprised to find out that she was one the the girls discussing loudly an inappropriate conversation about the owner!

After reading the comments above I would consider replacing a few of the employees! It would be such a great store if the quality of the staff could be the same as the product.

I found the staff in this store to be snooty and unhelpful. I felt like I was making them a favor by buying in their store.
I got zero service. When I was in the there I was the ONLY client and there were at least 2 people on the floor and another 3 working on computers upstairs.
Everything was overpriced and the one item I was looking for was was not even available for purchase.. I was sent home with a couple of websites to browse on my own and was told to get back to them and the item would take "only 6 weeks" once I ordered and paid upfront. With this kind of service I figure I might as well just shop online!

My husband and I ordered our baby's nursery furniture from this store over the summer and we could not be more happy with the product and the service we received! Being from northern Ontario we placed our order via telephone. We were very impressed with the friendly service along with the fact that the staff remembered who we were everytime we called to inquire about anything. We were told that the pieces of furniture would take 6 to 8 weeks to come in; therefor we were very excited when the store contacted us to let us know that it had come in early (only 4 weeks). Also we could not be more satisfied with not only the style but the quality of the products!

Had a great experience in this store! I was referred by a friend who said this place was the ultimate in stylish and quality baby products, and I wasn't disappointed. On our first stroll through the store my husband and I got tonnes of inspiration for pieces for the nursery and also those for other rooms of the house. It was so nice to see options for the kitchen and living room that fit with the rest of our decor. The staff spent time talking to us about every stroller that they had on display, explaining the pros and cons, and offering test drives. We found them really helpful at a time when we felt there was an overwhelming sea of options. We ultimately bought our stroller, car seat, and had a custom made chair done for the nursery. All had to be ordered, but came in on time with no unforeseen problems. I only wish their location was a bit closer to where we live!

I love this store! Gorgeous products and I found the staff very friendly too. Purchased a few things online as well and had no problems at all. Just visiting the store gives you so many design ideas... Highly recommend!

I wish there was an option for zero stars....as they do not deserve even one....

I recieved a gift certificate for this store as a baby shower gift. So, I was excited to shop at this boutique baby store. However from the moment I set my feet in the store, there was an overwhelming stench of snob in the air. I was excited to see that the store carried a $150.00 brand name changing pad that I wanted so I ordered it. When I ordered it, I was originally told it would arrive in 7-10 business days. When I called 10 days later to see if it had arrived, I was answered with total rudeness. The sales girl asked for my number and I wqas told that I would be called when it arrived with no apology. And that it would be another week. I waited another 10 days and still no call, so I decided to recall. Again I was told that someone would call me when it would be in and still no apology for my inconvenience. This went on for 7 weeks when finally I recieved the call. I was not given an apology for the extremely lengthy delay nor was offered a discount. I would have never waited so long however I was given a gift certificate and was forced to do business with these people. I will never shop there again nor reccomend this place to any one of my friends.

The service staff were all rude. I would like to share this with everyone who reads this review. And my money will definately be spent elsewhere

Ella and Elliot was hands down one of the worst customer service experiences ever. The staff are terribly rude and unwilling to provide any assistance. On top of that their inventory control is laughable.

8 month pregnant, walked in looked around, took pictures, sat in rocking chairs, fumbled around with strollers, a good 40 minutes of me time in this store. Not one sales person asked me if I needed help. Not going back.

I went with my friend two weeks ago to pick up a stroller. I thought I would buy something as well. They have the adacity to give her an open box. She paid full price for it. The owner Christian was there. He had the nerve to tell us that it was subject to customs inspection. He insisted that the stroller was brand new.

We took it home and found the seals to be broken. He simply repackaged a used one. Shame on Bugaboo and Stokke for letting this store ruin their reputation. We could not get all our money back due to their policy. A call to Visa solved that problem.

Word of advice, check to see if you are getting brand new things or not.
