Writing From the Senses: A Mindful Writing Workshop

“Ten times a day something happens to me like this - some strengthening throb of amazement - some good sweet empathic ping and swell. This is the first, the wildest and the wisest thing I know: that the soul exists and is built entirely out of attentiveness.” - Mary Oliver

This workshop is for writers of all stripes, no experience required. Whether you're interested in writing fiction or non-fiction, poetry or blog posts, incorporating all five senses is key to tangible, authentic work that grips readers from the very first line.

We'll start the workshop with a relaxing mindfulness exercise, then do a series of short writes to fun, creative prompts designed to bring out sensory details in your work. We'll then share what we've written, offering each other positive feedback in response to the question, "What's strong and what stayed with us?" Also included: Snacks, tea, informative handouts and lots of laughter.

You'll come away from this workshop with:

- Helpful strategies to incorporate mindfulness into your personal writing practice.

- Pages of brand-shiny-new writing filled with sensory details.

- Stronger skills in the craft of writing, forged in a positive, fun, red-pen-free environment.

- A smile on your face and a skip in your step.
