This workshop will focus on the foundation of Web Scraping: what web scrapers are and how to build them. We will start by understanding how web browsers work. Starting from the moment you click on a link to the moment the page gets loaded on your screen. Using these ideas we will see how to build a scraper as a custom browser that just saves parts of a webpage instead of displaying it on screen. A familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript will come in handy to identify the important data in a webpage for saving. After this, we will get to work building 3 news site scrapers in Python. These scrapers will be easily customizable to other applications following the workshop. Prerequisites: Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PythonYour laptop with the Google Chrome browser installed.
