Viewpoints: QWAC Artists of Distinction

Viewpoints is a juried group exhibition that honours artistic excellence and innovation at the Queen West Art Crawl, Toronto’s premiere art festival. From September 3-14, the works of twelve “artists of distinction” will be showcased in the hallway galleries at Artscape Youngplace, a new community cultural hub in the 100-year-old former Shaw Street School. The exhibition spans three floors of corridor space and is open to the public daily, 8 am – 8 pm, with free admission.

The Queen West Art Crawl (QWAC) is a three-day, weekend-long festival of creativity and community that attracts thousands of art lovers to Toronto’s gallery district. This year’s event runs from September 12-14, 2014, with activities stretching from Gladstone Avenue to Trinity Bellwoods Park. The cornerstone of the festival is the Outdoor Art Show & Sale, which features a juried selection of more than 250 artists and artisans. The artists showcased in Viewpoints were selected from the Outdoor Art Show & Sale exhibitors in a second jurying process by QWAC committee members and Artscape Youngplace’s curatorial advisory. The winning artists represent the highest standard of excellence in technique, composition and craftsmanship, as well as originality and inventiveness.
