U-Feast x Beast: Garcon! An Evening of Refined French Cuisine - Even If You Aren't...

Remember the opening scene of Pulp Fiction when Tim Roth flags down a waiter for coffee by calling him garçon? It may be acceptable in America, but in France, it's a big no-no in terms of ettiquette. On Monday, August 3 at 7PM, American chefs Ned Elliott (Foreign & Domestic, Austin, TX) and Matthew Gaudet (West Bridge, Cambridge, MA) will be flying in for a collaboration dinner with Scott Vivian at Beast Restaurant for a night of French fine dining, minus the pretense!

Together with the team at Beast, each chef will be responsible for crafting one of five courses. The menu will include mouth-watering dishes such as sea urchin mousse, pamericelli of sweetbreads and foie gras and end with a sumptuous chocolate tart made by Rachelle Cadwell, who is the champion of the Food Network's Donut Showdown.

Scott Vivian is the pioneer of the Toronto collaborative, The Group of 7 Chefs which he viewed as a way of breaking up the monotony of cooking in the kitchen, getting to hang with really cool people and creating beautiful food while drawing inspiration from each other. He is also the chef/proprietor at Beast Restaurant, a nose-to-tail and farm-to-table restaurant. If we were to describe his cuisine we'd say that it's "bam, in your face." Well if that's the case, as Britney Spears says "hit me baby one more time!"

Ned Elliott is the pioneer of a similar collaborating in Austin, Texas called Indie Chefs Week where he invites chefs to cook at his restaurant, Foreign & Domestic. Elliott honed his craft in French cuisine with culinary giants such as Alain Ducasse and Thomas Keller. Ringing true to his restaurant's moniker, Foreign & Domestic's menu is a great mix of classics such as duck magret and fried chicken and biscuits.

Matthew Gaudet was most recently named as Food & Wine Magazine's Best New Chef in 2013. Along with his business partner Alexis Gelburd-Kimler, their combined hospitality expertise and mastery of French cuisine has made West Bridge one of the hottest restaurants in town. Their menu is what chef likes to call "French-inspired American food," being "delicious and inventive without being intimidating or inaccessible." Gaudet has worked in such prestigious kitchens such as Eleven Madison Park, Jean-Georges and Aquavit.

With a menu this yummy, we're sure your bouche will be amused!

Tickets are $115 and inclusive of gratuities and drinks.
